been using Finale for microtonal score creation and playback for about 15
years, so have some experience in the matter.

Wow! What you are seeing with multimeasure rests are they are resetting to

Dear List,
The other day I had a cut-and-paste catastrophe involving some files; in
moving from computer-to-flash-to-computer, some didn't make it, and I ended
up having to recreate a lot of extracted, fully laid-out parts from scratch.
I DID have pdfs of all the files that I had created
I would also like to turn off the automatic 'fill with rests'.
I'm sure that I could do this in the Finale of years ago.
What am I missing?

This is a long standing problem with Finale that MM is very aware of but not
much is being done to address it. I believe this actual bug was introduced
in FIN08 but it could have been 09. The only way around it is to use "ACTUAL
measures" in program options.

Well, you can break all the beams by hand, of course, but that's not a
great solution if you're talking about a long passage.
You can also do this with TGTools Bream Breaker.

If there are a large number of bars in a row to be fixed you can also
use the 6 x 8 time signature with 'different sig for display' so that
finale doesn't add a redundant time sig announcement.
