I've had that problem as well. As I understand it, it has to do with
handshaking protocols and packet prioritization.
The best answer I have found is to work on the files locally, and then

Use the Character Tool to see if your font provides true fractions.
If not, find a font that looks like yours that does, and then create a character definition that uses that font.

FWIW, I found that there was not a terribly steep learning curve for
existing functionality when moving to FM10. Some of the new

Drag the pod off to the side so it is a child window.
You can also move the sub-pieces of the pods around to assemble a
custom pod.
