To manage a book component you need to use the book file and tools, not the
component ones.
Many of the basics, like this, are covered in the help file / manual, and
third party books, as well as the various list archives..

I think there might be something going on with pagination if the
number of pages in the file don't match the last saved/recognized
pagination in FM. But I could be wrong. Not much info to go on.

To be fairly clear about this, FrameMaker never natively supported import of
Visio drawings. What FrameMaker does support is Microsoft's OLE, Object Linking

Interesting, and does anyone know if there is an option to display low

Depends upon what it is (how long mostly) and the page layout (size,
portrait vs landscape).
If it is one page it seems to get printed, but if it is long and is a
manual it gets printed too. But if if is middling to long and is, for
example a District Plan, technical reference, or something

Try printing to pdf from a graphics application that can open multiple
pages of a multi-page tif and import the pdf.

Ah, this seems to be the answer. So, there's really not much I can do

Well . . . . that's annoying.

Dear Kelly McDaniel,
In my experience working in the IT and telecommunications field, PDFs are

during eLearning courses, but that's a different context (though related)
than technical documentation.
Here's why. I am writing
