Well why the devil should the PDF generation fail if you select RGB mode?
And what if you *want* it to be in RGB mode? (as you quite legitimately
might do
properly and so you will be creating a PDF
that has limited portability.

The printer selected needs to be Adobe PDF. If that's not working, you
may need to reinstall.
You might try a MIF wash on the .fm file(s) in case some corruption is
causing the problem.

Now that would be a nice situation for Adobe to find a way to put something in
the error message saying PDF failure caused by RGB setting, wouldn't it?

Is the Adobe Acrobat printer set as your system default printer?
Can you do File Print Book and print to the Acrobat
Hello Framers,
I recently updated a much-used 200+ Kb file and attempted to save as
PDF, which failed; I could see the temporary .tps file appear then
disappear. Tried printing to a .ps file, which also failed; file
generates but it contains zero kb. Tried different printers in the

I'd suspect a corrupt graphic. Try making a copy of the file, deleting
out all the graphics, see if it will PDF. If so, add back in the first
half the graphics, see if the file will now PDF. If so, add half the
remaining graphics, text again. If not, remove half of what you'd added
and test

You could also try and locate a copy of the SetPrint plugin, currently being
distributed by Sundorne, which sets the Adobe PDF driver as the default when
ever FrameMaker is launched.

Yes it is. And I tried printing to .ps and printing to PDF (.ps unchecked).

The problem is not with setting the Adobe PDF as printer instance.
The problem occurs when this is selected and when another printer
instance is selected.

Matt,
RGB-CMYK was the culprit! I just tested with CMYK
checked in the PDF settings, and the file
rendered correctly. I switched that back to RGB
and it failed.
Thank you!
