Reading the manual might help here. Good advice, but there hasn't been a FrameMaker manual since FM7. :) And online help often requires the use of specific search terms to find obscure information. Online help needs lots of work. There is a really good video on using the new (as of FM9)

I can second Mike's suggestion to watch RJ's video. I watched it immediately after upgrading to Frame 9 and it made the paradigm shift from Frame 7 so much smoother. A lot of people really struggled with how to manage the pods and panels on the new UI, but RJ made it easy to understand. Until

Actually, they disappear IN THE MIDDLE OF WORKING on a single document/book or multiple documents, not just on close! What a sad state of user interface affairs FM has fallen into. :-) I now realize that the workspace menu everyone keeps referring to is actually the button that reads Authoring!
