Is there a big list if inappropriate websites somewhere that I can build
into squid to keep my kids out of Adult websites?
If not squid is there a better Proxy to use on my FreeBSD firewall for
that purpose?

PS squid is a very cool thing, and I can use MRTG to gather data and
display it, but it does seem to have some performance hit with surfing,
I moved it from my dually P
I see that as an example of something that might be offensive on the
surface but we might not want to outlaw just as a matter of course.

There are several different type of monitors and display boards.
The MDA is a text only (and later was a Herculules black/white greaphivs
card). This monitor has a 9pin connector on the viideo cable. Pluging a MDA
into a CGA can literally smoke the monitor..

Have you tried running fsck against the volume?
Assuming ufs filesystem, I'd suggest starting with:
fsck -n -t ufs /dev/vinum/data
Note the -n option tells fsck not to correct any errors but will give you an
indication about what is going on.

You can check by doing a 'dig TM25.dhcp.company.com' and see what results you
get from your DNS - you should see the name resolve to the IP address of the

The only things that come to mind here are to make sure rcp/portmapper is
running, make sure you have all of the appropriate _enable="YES" messages

size from stat(2), and the fact that FreeBSD uses a 64 bit offset where

I did solve this. I installed with the no-standalone option. Therefor, I
was forced to start it from the inetd.conf file and not from a script under
the rc.d directory.

Actually, just change the ip addy on your Windows box to 10.1.1.3 or
aything above that. That should do the trick. Your IP on the Windows box
has to be higher than the ip on the Router box.

So until you do that, you may want to consider NOT starting vinum
at boot time, though the messages you're getting are harmless.

I have 3Com Megahertz 10/100 Lan Cardbus model 3CCFE575CT for my laptop.
Recently, i've made up my mind to try using FreeBSD instead of the Windows
98 that came with the laptop. (all really because i got a new desktop to
depend on ^^) But now, i hear that cardbus is not supported. is that

"/bin/ls /bin" or even something more basic like "set" (which is

As per that link, someone wrote a driver for Linux, and also for the
"TopGun" (a third party GunCon2 clone), but I'm not sure whether or not
that code is portable.
Could anyone give me a hand with this?

I have to apologize, as I've never had x11 start automatically for me
anyplace. That said, you need to understand that the server/client
relationship for X11 is backwards to what you might expect. The
display, keyboard, and mouse are at the x-server side, and the machine
you connect to is the
