Hi -
I recently upgraded a Rev 1 B&W G3, replacing the original 300 mHz CPU
with a 450 mHZ CPU from another B&W. I reset the jumpers to the 450
settings.
Then I did a clean install of Tiger 10.4 on the original 6 GB, which
took several tries but finally got done.
Then I ran 'software update' a

On the contrary, the Finder is hyperactive, constantly throwing itself
up front.

Thanks for your advice. See my post to Tom... how would you compare
the Power Mac G5 models to the iMac dual core Or Core 2 for the
money? I can budget up to $1,000.00 on a used or refurbished
computer. I would hope to use this computer for the next couple
years, looking to upgrade at that tim

Tom -
Thanks for all your advice. I've researched a bit more, and wonder
how you and the list would compare an iMac (core dual Or core 2) to
the G5 models? I think I can spend around $1,000 or so, knowing that
I may want to upgrade again in a couple years. I see some used iMacs

I'm having a heck of a time opening a filename.dmg.bin download. I
downloaded Expander 2009 and it won't work. So I tried the first
version of Expander for OS X and it won't work. I redownloaded the
file and tried again. Nothing. Any suggestions??

Two members of our user group have similar problems. One with a DP
G5, the other with an iMac, both running Tiger 10.4.11. A finder
window becomes the active window automatically. Both have tried
deleting the Finder preferences and repairing permissions.
Please advise.

I think it's no such thing.
Whatever you like is the best.

I have a 2003 G4 MDD single 1.25GHz. The fourth DIMM slot (J20) is flaky
- kernel panics, freezes, etc.
I've heard a theory that, despite Apple's stated limit of 512MB DIMMs in
these m/cs, it's actually possible to use 2 x 1GB chips to achieve the
max RAM configuration.
Has anyone here done that
