If you could plug an adapter into the IDE port on the logicboard of a
PowerMacG4, you'd probably run into issues trying to get the case to
close without breaking the adapter board... not a lot of head room over
the logicboard there when you close the case.

I'm using a USB adapter from macsense.com . It was perhaps over
priced a bit but still works well with 10.5.8 in a hackintosh machine.
Also works great in my old PPC BW machine with Tiger. Doesn't work
with Snow Leopard. The software won't load.

My BW has startup issues as well. It took a fair amount of trouble
shooting to find an easy fix for me. It turns out the power button
switch on mine is going out. The fix was easy. I use an Apple ADB

I think I may have an answer . Not all AGP slots are the same . I
believe the Sawtooth has a 2x AGP slot . The slots look the same but
the cross pieces that match up with the slots in the card are in
different places . Given that you need to tape over some of the pins
