Hi all,
Over the past week or so, I've been learning Inform 7 and discovered
tonight that you can change the greater than symbol prompt in interactive
fiction games with a single line of code. You can also turn off the status
lines at the top, which refresh each turn.
Changing both would mean yo

I have seen games who behave like that, (actually including some Infocom
games if I recall correctly).

Hi All,
I have a bit of a problem. I am working on a new track for Rail Racer, and
there's a giant part that just does not register. That is the program
totally ignores the whole thing.

Personally, I am fine with the greater than symbol, but I see your

I think Ten Pin Alley 1.2 is designed to work with Vista and Windows 7. But
if you lost your registration key, you are now required to pay full price.
That is the Draconis policy as of last year.

Hi.
Next time you ask about a game, try looking on the website of the
game itself and find as much information as possible before you post

A suggestion: Try them and find out. The best way to discover if you can
play a game is to try it rather than asking others if you can play it. Make
sense?

That's hardly fair. We ask people to do research first before they ask on
list, so they do research and can't find what they want. Now they're told
that they should try the program first instead of asking on list? I'm hard
pressed to figure out what this list is for, then.

They are written in basic and you will need an interpreter to run them. I
heard of a program called GWBasic a while back, but not sure if it still
exists or is being developed.

Hi Carl,
No no, GWBASIC was the program they were written in most likely. An example
of an interpreter would be something like basica.

Hi Dark,
Probably. Though someone would have to want to port the code to a language
that will compile an executable. Interestingly enough, the .bas extension
files are used for standard code modules in VB, though methinks it probably
wouldn't be compilable in that format.

Hi Ian,
Have you tried any of the cross-platform interpreters like frobtads,
scare, frotz, etc?
I mean if I can play dozens of text adventures on Linux surely there
are just as many if not more support for Mac OS. Most of the
interpreters I use are open source and can be cross-compiled on any
