[Audyssey] star traders rpg now accessible on Ios
Just for people on this list, as of yesterday Star traders rpg from trees brothers games is now accessible on Ios and can be found on the ap store. It's got a nav helper accessed through the menue which gives you a list of planets to travel to, which works well. I'm still figuring out the game and how everything works, but I like what I've seen thus far, certainly worth the three dolars for the elite version, although there is a free version as well (I bought the elite straight off since this is just my sort of game). The game is sort of similar to smugglers or core exiles in that you fly around with a spaceship, there are a number of factions who have wars, you have a crew and engage in space combat. The difference is that the universe is rather like the dune books by Frank herbert, galactic houses and politics along with sindicates, there are lots of different things to do, exploring planets, lots of ship combat, boarding and capturing ships and a lot more, indeed I'm only just starting on the game myself. one thing that I do like the look of is that rather than you just grinding away at the same resource trading, you actually need to research where things are needed for yourself, which makes the game quite unique, as does the fact that while there ar elots of ships and upgrades to buy and awards to earn, the game is pretty open ended. It looks highly interesting and I'd advise any rpg fans to give it a try. Beware the grue! Hi dark. I attempted this game a while ago as people may remember, and have just started again now with the new update. Can you tell me how to find this nav helper that has a list of planets? Re: [Audyssey] star traders rpg now accessible on Ios
Hi Darren. I agree, particularly because I've not been able to get Ce to play properly with safari on my Iphone. I think there are supposed to be something like 200 planets in the elite version, which means lots of places to go. The only problem I'm having at the moment with the map is that it only shows the names of planets, not how far away they are or who they belong to, meaning I fly off to do some exploring, then suddenly realize I'm crossing half the galaxy! that is a little frustrating and I've not found a way around it, indeed at the moment my crew are getting very cross since I'm stuck in the middle of deep space and am out of everything. Other than that issue though things are great, I like the universe and the events, although again it is a little irritating to be told something like dark age technology was found on Ironhill and then have absolutely no idea where the iron hell that planet is! :d. On the other hand I do like the way the game is focused more on open ended wandering around and doing different things strategically than grinding, even the ship upgrades are fairly open to interpreatation. I'm hoping Trees brothers will also considder adding access changes to some of their other games too, since they make various rpg type things from cyberpunk warriors to high seas piracy. [Audyssey] a dark room?
Hi guys. I have bene playing a dark room. I have a few questions however: 1. is the only way to get cured meat to go to the house and battle with the old man? 2. If you use up food to get somewhere then how do you battle with whatever creature you encounter if you have not got many hit points? 3. when I go back in to the room it tells me I should gather more wood. Why do I need more wood? I think that will do for now. thanks. Re: [Audyssey] A Dark Room, now an IOS iPhone game
HI. am playing with the alternative ending. So how do I craft a torch? thanks Warm regards and blessings Maria, Joe and FurBabies Email: iMessage:bubbygirl1...@gmail.com On 5 Jan 2014, at 7:33 am, dark d...@xgam.org wrote: Hi. Basically the game is a mix between resource management and an old fashioned dungeon style rpg (it rather reminded me of a dos game like fallthru or drone). You have a village of slaves who work to get you resources like wood, fir, scales, teeth and such. You can build different buildings such as huts to increase your population size, or buildings like a tanary, smoke house or hunters lodge to give you access to other jobs to get more materials. That end of things is sort of similar to castaways. The difference however is that you use these resources to not only expand your village but also build your rpg adventuring items, for example to enter dungeons and such you need torches which must be crafted from wood and cloth, while the backpack needs making from leather. The rpg end of things reminds me of fallthru, since you are limited in the amount of things you can carry by your equipment, so even when you defeat a monster you might not be able to pick up all the loot, and you also need to make sure you have enough water, food etc to travel around and have encounters. The game has some random events and encounters, and various locations to explore, though I've not got far in the exploring yet so I can't say how things like dungeons work exactly, still it's an interesting one. One very odd mechanic is that the game is actually real time like a mud, but the developers have put a lot of work into making the game accessible. All new events get instantly spoken, whether random occurrences or standard things in your history, and even though everything in the game (including hits in battle), works on cool down timers with percentages this presents no access issues at all. The only thing I haven't really got thus far is exactly how this fire thing is supposed to work, since while I keep stoking the fire in the main dark room hub of the game I'm not exactly sure what it does, though I'm guessing bad things happen if you ignore it for too long. Re: [Audyssey] a dark room?
Hi Maria. Several things. Firstly, you need more wood to build things such as huts for your followers, buildings like the tannery to where your followers work, traps that can trap animals to provide other useful resources and also weapons and other handy things. There are several ways to get cured meet, the old man is just one of them. firstly, once you've cleared a location on the map it will turn into an outpost. going to an outpost refills your water, and also outposts have huge lots of cured meet for you to pickup so that you can journey further into the wild. You can also buy cured meet from the merchant at 30 meet each, or if you have built huts and have some followers, you can recruit some hunters to get meet for you, then build a smokehouse ande recruit a charkiteer to turn the meet into cured meet. this is much cheaper than buying from the merchant but you need to build the correct structures and have followers. As to combat, well your fists don't do much damage, but the builder should give you the chance to build more weapons, and once you find some other resources you can take those, just remember that the more weapons you carry with you the more chances you get to attack. Armor can be helpful too, as can bolas if you run across them. hth. Beware the grue! Re: [Audyssey] star traders rpg now accessible on Ios
Hi Richard. Once your docked at a planet, there on the screen with the bridge button and contracts button there will be a menue button with a hint that says zoom out. this cycles between showing the two buttons to get to the urban center and wilds and the play button for traveling in your ship, (they're labeled st hud urban, st hud wilds ad st hud play with correct hints), and a button to show the list of planets. it's labeled st hud legend but the hint will tell you what it is. So, the process is hit the menue button, then hit the st hud legend button. Unfortunately telling where those planets are is another matter, as I've said, but at least finding the helper is easy enough. hth. Beware the grue! Your welcome Shannon. If you like Smugglers and core exiles as I do, you'll enjoy the game, though the setting is rather different from either since it's set in a universe rather like the Dune series by frank herbert. Even if you haven't played either of those two games, if you like rpgs and sf stratogy type games you should give this a try. Beware the grue! Re: [Audyssey] A Dark Room, now an IOS iPhone game
Hi Maria. What you need to do is carry on building traps, eventually, the builder will open up the options to build more items, though annoyingly you'll need to do a lot of back and forth to get the items, but nobody says the alternate ending is easy. I've done it, but it was a struggle I'll say that. Just remember outposts are your best friend for cured meed, and avoid going to caves until you've build the wagon and can carry all the leather since when playing for the alternate ending leather becomes like gold dust, indeed I'd recommend heading straight to the iron mine and mining until you can build the wagon, and not touching any of the caves until you've got it otherwise you'll have a long haul ahead of you. Re: [Audyssey] a dark room?
Hi Maria. No, you don't build any huts at all, but you must still build traps to get things to trade to the merchant. When i say cleared a location I mean fought the monsters and looted the items. it will change on the map to an outpost, ie, if there was an old house 2 west and 2 north of the village, once you've gone there, fought the old man and grabbed the kash of loot there will be an outpost 2 west and 2 north on the map instead, or at least there should be. Hi MAria. I'm just not understanding this at all. you should hit continue, then go to a small loot screen where you can pick up items. then the house should turn into an outpost at the same location on the map. Re: [Audyssey] A Dark Room, now an IOS iPhone game
Hi Lori. Well there are several dark rooms, there is my kitchin, my livving room (which does indeed have me in it at the moment), my bedroom, my bathroom and indeed my toilet (a very dark room indeed, since people don't usually like seeing what happens in there). The game on the Iphone however is a really interesting rpg, in which you start out in a dark room, which doesn't contain me, unless I'm playing (wow this is confusing). You start off by lighting the fire, then you meet a mysterious stranger, then you can go out into the woods and start gathering wood to keep the fire going. The stranger turns out to have an astonishing ability to build things, huts for your followers and various items that let you go out into the wilderness and explore. The game unfolds from there, sort of a mix of resource management and exploration, though i won't say anymore since it's one of those games you really need to explore for yourself. Beware the grue! Speaking of rough edges, I'm curious about how we're supposed to trade things in the exchange halls, or heal at the doctor. I see 0 percent adjustable, but I can't change it. When it's at 0 percent, the complete transaction button doesn't appear. Also, when creating a new game, it shows a list of starting ships. However, if you don't choose the V-Victus, the new game isn't created. If anyone can offer tips, I'd be grateful. Re: [Audyssey] star traders rpg now accessible on Ios
Hi shanon. The reason your having issues with the doctor I suspect is due to a miner point about how the sliders in the game work that also threw me at first, but once you get it it's quite logical. Basically the way you buy anything in the game is with the slider. %100 means transer as much as possible to you, %0 means sell the lot. So, if you've got 3 Metals in your hold and there are 3 standing at the dock, the slider will begin at %%50, if you want to buy the three from the dock you put it up, if you want to sell your 3 you put it down. When there are more than five items to sell, ie, the slider has more than five positions, you can just flick it, but as you've probably found when there's only say one position you can't. For example if you've got one unit of health to recover from the doctor the slider can only be at %0 or %100. In actual fact however, the slider is a long control that goes left to right horizontally right across the display, so all you need to do to select it is double tap and hold then swipe your finger right across the display, right if you want to go up, and left if you want to go down, (just bare in mind you have to swipe quite a long distance across the screen for it to work). This probably sounds very clunky when I explain it like this, but once I got the knack myself I now find I use the double tap and slide left or right method instead of flicking even with larger sliders since it's much quicker. Hope this makes sense. As regards the ships, some I believe are unlocks, and it's possible that some are either faction or profession specific but I'm not %100 certain on that as i haven't messed about with the different ship types that much yet. After you kill the old man did you hit the retreat button or the continue button. Even if you won the fight, hitting retreat basically takes you out of the hole thing. You need to carry on hitting continue even if you are full with resources to clear the location. - Original Message - From: Maria and Joe Chapman bubbygirl1...@gmail.com To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Wednesday, January 29, 2014 6:50 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] a dark room? hmmm ok, so I went to the house and fought the old man. This is really! cruical for the alternate ending since outposts are your main source of cured meet. Beware the Grue! HI. I read somewhere that to get the alternative ending we shouldn’t build a hut? is this correct? Ok, what do you mean by clearing a location? If I go to the old house the old man is always there even after I have killed him. lol help? regards Maria and crew from australia email: bubbygirl1...@gmail.com check out www.95-the-mix.com where lots of great music is played On 30 Jan 2014, at 5:14 am, dark d...@xgam.org wrote: Hi Maria. Several things. Firstly, you need more wood to build things such as huts for your followers, buildings like the tannery to where your followers work, traps that can trap animals to provide other useful resources and also weapons and other handy things. There are several ways to get cured meet, the old man is just one of them. firstly, once you've cleared a location on the map it will turn into an outpost. going to an outpost refills your water, and also outposts have huge lots of cured meet for you
