Re: [Audyssey] BPP Flyin on schedule

2009-08-02 Thread Scott Shade
The quickest and most likely thing to change and fix is to see if hitting
the letter q restores your sounds. if that accidently got checked either in
the menus or by accidently pressing it, your sounds will stop. Pressing it
again acts like a toggle and you should be back in business. If that
doesn't work, you'll have to get down and dirty with the fs2004 volume
controls and reset them to where you want them.

Re: [Audyssey] question about switching IYP back to on line mode.

2009-07-31 Thread Scott Shade
If your using jfw bring up your window list and chose the first entry in the
list if all else fails, either the first or second entry there that says iyp
there is a check box that should immediately gain the focus when the window
comes up toggle that checkbox and you'll be online. I believe the box is
labeled run offline. You'll want the box unchecked to go back online.

hi list.
just wondering if someone could tell me how I can switch IYP back to on

as I used it a few days ago without an internet connection, so it went to

I am sure when I registered I saw a checkbox for off line mode, but now I
can't find the checkbox in question.

so I am wondering could someone please tell me how to find it? or if there
is a voice command to reenable on line mode.

I have looked at the manual, but I do find the command tables very hard to
navigate. so I would really appreciate any help.

I’ll help you out when I get back from camp. I am leaving tomorrow and
will be back aug 8.
But here’s enough info that should get you started.
When you connect to a server, you’ll here a bunch of gunfire. Just
follow it, and follow the footsteps. Use ther eros to walk and turn.
Then when you here the target sound, a kind of beeping, you can fire
with the control key. Use the numbers to select weapons.
And listen to the comintary given by your selected voice.
Use the end key to stop the speech at any time.
Use the config.cfg file to change your name.
Edit the last line. By default, it will be “Doctor nameless.”
Change it to what you like then save the changes.
You can use notepad to open the config.cfg file.
Good luck,
Nick

Re: [Audyssey] question about using radio in IYP.

2009-07-30 Thread Scott Shade
For the most part using the number one on your keyboard, not the numpad keys
but the actual typing keyboard is your friend in fs 2004 flight control.
Sometimes you'll have to hit one to select the propper menu and then hit two
to send your response off to the controler. Sometimes if you have a
situation where you have two different radio situations going on, you may
need to use one to select like the tower controler and then the number 3 to
request takeoff and then one to send your responses back to the controler,
but thats the only situation where I think the number three gets involved in
the equation. Its hard to write a precise set of steps down here as the
controler menu changes depending on the airport or the service being
selected. But in general one and two or various combinations of those are
your friends. A typical senario would go something like this. Hit one a
time or two to bring up the atis frenquency and listen to it for the
weather. Hit one to switch to clearance to get your plan filed and start
that dialog then hit two to send the request to the clearance operator. He
responds back, and you then hit one to answer him. He ecknowledges readback
correct contact ground on whatever the number is he gives. You then hit one
again to go to ground and then 2 to send off your response to them and wait
for their information, hit one to answer them and then they say contact
tower on such a frenquency. You hit one again to change to the tower
controler and then in this instance hit three as the hitting of two will
cause the atis menu to be displayed again I think so three is your number to
send your takeoff request to the tower. Tower then either confirms or
denies your request at this time and you ecknowledge them with one. Then
once you have your clearance, or if they give you clearance immediately, you
ecknowledge with 1 and throw the throttles to the wall and your out of
there. From then on out for the most part its 1 to ecknowledge a flight
controler, and then one to change frequencies and one to contact the next
controler. This assumes that there is a situation where your being required
to respond to them. Under most circumstances in fs2004 hitting one while in
flight gives you the option to change your flight plan while your in flight.
There is a situation that comes in to play where control wants to know if
you can see the traffic they're telling you to watch out for and you have to
use two to answer them, but that is about the only situation I can think of
where that comes in to play. There are some rather freeky things that can
happen if they decide to assign you to a visual runway on an ils approach.
Then you need to bring up another menu entirely with the number 2 or three
keys I haven't totally figured that out entirely as its a fun thing to have
to deal with but for the most part, that will get you off to a reasonably
good start. Hope that helps,

Subject: [Audyssey] question about using radio in IYP.

Hi list.

I am wondering if someone could please give me a very simple guide to
using the radio in IYP?

as I tried listening to the podcasts again with IYP, and to be honest I
was completely confused, as nick did a good job with the podcast over all,
but particularly at the beginning he wasn't really explaining things well
he was just pushing things and saying ok now i'm talking to the controler
etc, or now i'm getting the weather information.

he didn't say ok to get the weather information i press ` then press 1 so
many times or to file my flight plan i press ` then press 1 so many times
or to respond to this i press ` and then 3, he wasn't talking through the
steps of what he was doing.

so I would really appreciate a guide to using the radio right from getting
clearance to take off, and then using it throughout the flight.

also, how do I set my departure frequency, and what are the different navs
for as in 1 2 and 3?

lastly, as the forum was annoying to navigate, robert has set up a google
group instead, I think everyone who is using or wants to get into using
fs2004 and IYP should join it.
as at the moment it only has 6 members, and I think we should demonstrate
to robert that there is a large number of people who use IYP.

[Audyssey] how do I fix this?

2009-07-04 Thread Scott Shade
I had to reinstall my iyp app yesterday when some files got corrupted. I fixed
one problem but discovered another one. Now when I get fs2004 up and running,
all is good, but when I load iyp the registered version, I get a chance to tab
around the dialog for a bit in iyp, then I lose speech entirely while the apps
are loaded unless, I'm back in the ms flight sim window where I can read menus,
but volume slider bars for example won't read right, and trying to check the
time for example with insert f12 doesn't work at all. Also with push to talk
active I used to have to hit scroll lock twice to toggle it with jfw, now I
just need one press. Its almost like jfw shuts down completely while in the
iyp window after a time and is completely silent in fs till a menu is
displayed. I guess I have two questions, one, how do I put fs in window mode
as i can't minimize it while a flight is actually loaded, and two has anyone
found a way to hide the iyp window or windows cause I think it puts up two of
them? I'm hoping that if the windows are minimized that one app might speak.
I don't think this is something I can turn over to their tech support as it
could vary well be considered a jfw issue. Thanks much,
Scott

From: alex wallis alexwallis...@googlemail.com

hi.
just wondering if other people have experienced problems with navigating
the

IYP window? as I find when i root my jaws cursor to pc, when I have alt
tabbed over to the IYP window, jaws is reading me bits of the start menu
when I try to navigate the screen, and if I try to maximise the IYP
window,

I find some how I land back in the microsoft flight simulator window and I
can't get focus back to IYP until it complains it can't verify my
identity.
just wondering has anyone else experienced anything at all similar to
these

issues? are there accessibility problems with this latest version?
as the odd thing is I am sure I was able to submit my registration once
before no problem and get sapi feedback but for some reason I am just
finding it impossible to navigate the IYP window.
I wish it was possible to get IYP registered or at least get the pilot
number without fs2004 running. as I guess everyone knows it can be
problematic trying to use the jaws cursor with multiple windows open.

[Audyssey] work around for those using iyp

2009-07-04 Thread Scott Shade
Okay folks, keep in mind that this data is preliminary at best cause I haven't
had time with the holliday to test it under the most basic of conditions, but
this is what I did and it restored about 70 percent of my jfw reading back to
me. First do these things in this order, break this order and you risk
problems down the line. First load up fs2004 and get your plane where you want
it. Second, load up any real world weather if your going to use it. Third,
load your flight plan or create and load your flight plan so that it can take
advantage of your updated weather conditions and move the plane to the correct
runway. Fourth, unload jfw. Fifth load iyp by either assigning it to a
shortcut key or by knowing where it will be on your desktop. You can highlight
the icon prior to unloading jfw if you wish. Finally, reload jfw and proceed
with your flight by getting back in to your flight sim window and working as
normal, if you must work in the iyp window following these steps outlined above
will keep jfw cursor keys and other keys working correctly. Caution, unless
you have no choice, don't reset the system to cold and dark. Apparently iyp
does something with grabbing keyboard control away from jfw, and the only way
to correct the situation is to load iyp first, then reload jfw. I haven't had
a chance to test this out under flight conditions so if someone else gets to it
prior to my posting to the list, I'll leave it to them to post their findings.
I'll of course post my follow up when I can, but for now folks, its late for
me, its been a long day, and I just got home and figured I'd post this for
those adventurous souls that for whatever reason just haven't forced themselves
to that wonderful blissful state of existence we call sleep. *snickers. Take
care, and enjoy the remainder of your fourth.

About the only way to do it if your trying to tune both comm 1 and two is to
do it through the squawk box window. I mainly just use comm 1 for all
practical purposes as your only dealing with one controler at any given
time.

 Ahoy to all.
I'm just about to try my first VATSIM flight [KPHX-PANC], and was curious
to ask from any other pilots, if there is a good way to navigate the
radios? (I've noticed the Squakbox command .c #, but am curious to know
 if there are other ways.)

 Thanks,

Re: [Audyssey] Flightsim Nav Radio tuning?

2007-11-22 Thread Scott Shade
I just took a look at the rest of your message here. I'd be vary interested
to see if they accept your fs nav plan as filed as the plan that fsnav tends
to construct is different than the routes they recommend you fly. The
biggest problem I need to overcome is trying to figure out how to get the
routes from simroutes to import in to fsnav and still be accurate. If you
can work with vroute then You can export that plan to fsnav however, vroute
doesn't allow for the addition of the appropriate sids and stars where
simroutes can give you those. It also allows for the export to squawk box
so that the controlers will see your route.

 Hi list.
ok this is weird i created a flight plan but when i import it into flight
simulator and try to fly it using fsnavigator something weird happens.
i hit f9 and i here a kind of rumble noise then a beep.
if i then hit f9 again i here a kind of click noise a bit like the sound
when a picture is taken with a camera. i can cycle through these 2 noises
 by
 repeatedly hitting f9.
i've asked sighted friends but they can't seem to see any error boxes or
 anything.
does anyone have any thoughts as to what this could be?
also i have another question in flight simulator is it normal not to have
 a
menu bar til you hit the button fly now?
not sure as scot didn't seem to have to do that in his podcast to get the
 menu.
 thanks for any help.

[Audyssey] Fw: assistance with a problem

2007-11-22 Thread Scott Shade
I emailed the admin of a site called simroutes because they have a database
of routes most likely to be used by virtual airlines and vatsim for the
online air traffic control services they provide. Since this is flight sim
related I figured that this information might benefit the gaming community
as a whole. Please don't deluge this guy with emails as he really doesn't
have much time to solve our problem and as you'll read on he doesn't have
the capability to solve it either no matter how much he wants to.

 Hi Scott,

When I originally started putting together the export feature, I had two
targets in mind; the 767: Pilot in Command (now the Level-D767) and FSNAV.
Unfortunately the FSNAV developer is tight fisted with revealing the
details/format of the FSNAV file. Unlike the other applications we export
to, FSNAV is not a straight text or XML based file. I did receive some
rather old (circa 98) instructions but decided against implementing it
 since
the format used by 4.7 has apparently changed significantly.

I was hoping that FSNAV would eventually release an FSX version complete
with an SDK of some sort. I'm not sure where they are at with that.

Your best bet might be software like Ernie Alston's FSBUILD which does a
great job of creating FSNAV flight plans. If you don't want to fork over
 the
$20 (well worth it) then there is an older free copy of FSNAV 1.x which
 also
converts to FSNAV. Yes I know this means forking out more money - or
 having
to use ANOTHER application, but unfortunately there isn't much I can do
about it at this time - regardless of how much I'd love to provide the
 feature for you.

Additionally I've had less than zero time for development the past few
months since child #2 arrived. I've got a list of feature requests as long
as the great wall of China, with close to no time available to implement
them. Perhaps my lottery number will come up next week so that I can
 retire
and spend more time on SimRoutes ;)

I really wish that someone else out there had an online application that
would convert route to the FSNav format but as far as I can tell only
 Ernie
(FSBuild) has managed to do it.

 Cheers,

Just a note about achaea you can actually set up your aliases in game itself on
achaea. with the command setalias for example and following their syntax you

  Hi everyone:

So, I finally broke down and decided that I'd use mushclient. As far as I
know, I just need to use the plug-in, right?

I am using JFW for anyone who is interested. I am having an odd problem.

If I am in the mushclient window and the screen scrolls, it reads the last
thing on the output screen and then as a new line is entered, it reads what
it read before plus whatever the new line after. If I am out of the window,
  it reads normally without backtracking.

  Does anyone have any advice?

My best friend has also been twisting my arm hard enough for me to want to
start playing achaea, and I don't dare do that with GMud..not when there are
a lot of macros and aliases and the like that I want to use.

  Thanks for any assistance.

  sincerely,

Are there any muds out there with a good storyline and decent character

[Audyssey] flight sim progress

2007-10-12 Thread Scott Shade
For those that have been wondering I've been busy on several fronts here
trying to do a course from hadley and also in trying to figure out how to
improve my flying with the fs2002 program. I can now report that with the
rather indirect help of the president of a virtual airline, that the flight
tracking ssoftware fs-acars is um 75 percent accessible for us to use as far
as the information layout is concerned. I'm required to take a check ride
in the boeing 737-400 and show that I can handle the aircraft in structured
flight betwene St Louis Lambert international airport and Chicago O'Hare
airport. While I'm not fully ready to do the check ride quite yet, I think
that after I do a few more practice runs, this time accounting for real
weather conditions, I'll probably atempt to do it sometime this weekend.
There are those who have been asking about the air traffic control menu in
fs2002. I really can't talk you through the procedure with a 100 percent
accuracy rating as the menu changes depending on the situation your dealing
with. The best answer I can give you is and I know this sounds like a cop
out, butt, trial and error with the given situation. If its any
consolation, it would appear that the air traffic control system isn't
widely used by Maricio and the others, I've voluntered to send a sound bite
of me working the air traffic control system in fs2002 for them. Also, I'll
probably do several things at once. My check ride might vary well be the
podcast flight I use to demonstrate flight sim. Though I'm not sure if I'm
that brave yet. Take care all. I'm off to get some sleep.

[Audyssey] flight sim

2007-10-12 Thread Scott Shade
If someone can figure out how to get those boxes in the various dialogs to
read well for example the aircraft selection boxes then window-eyes might be
the best alternative for you. Though you'll have to do a bit of keyboard
reclassification as ctrl shift f1 cuts off your engines in the sim and that
also brings up context specific help in window-eyes I think. I suspect that
there may be some dll issue causing trouble betwene jfw and either
fs-navigator or flight sim that I managed to somehow fix. If I could find
the magic formula I'd gladly give it as in my oppinion having experienced
jfw when it works gives a much better and consistent read of flight sim over
all. I'm just the opposite, my win-eyes experiences weren't that positive.
My flights would be interrupted by illegal operation messages from time to
time. I'm no programmer so trouble shooting code isn't my thing. Take care
all,
Scott

[Audyssey] flight sim

2007-10-01 Thread Scott Shade
In looks like you could actually do as little or as much of the manual
flying as you wanted. The navigator shows your flight plan in a list view
on the right side of the screen. You can get focus on that list view and
then take a look at the information on each entry so you could or should at
least be able to plot a heading to the next nav beacon in the chain on your
flight plan and so on. If you tried to do this all manually whitch is
possible, you'd have to fly towards the first beacon set its heading and
frequency in the approapriate places so you could hear it then the next, and
the next, and the next in so-on all the while making sure that you were
prepared to at some point take on some additional tasks of handling your
descent and beginning the initial alignment for your approach for your ils
landing. That chart shows heading and altitudes that you should be at when
you reach your destination. thats why it does a lot of that for you. But
believe me when you tell it you want to do the work yourself, its only to
happy to oblige. Thats why it is a simulation and not a game.

[Audyssey] flight simulator verses flight commander

2007-09-30 Thread Scott Shade
As I see it, flight commander was a shooter type game that involved flying
and aerial combat against other aircraft. Flight sim is a flying simulation
program. It isn't meant to be handled as a game. It is rather as close as
microsoft at the time could come to a simulation of the flight environment
from flightplan filing to landing at the destination airport. There are
some issues with atempting to use flight sim 2002 with jaws and I'm not sure
if this is limited to U.S. versions of jaws or not cause I'm told that One
of the people that takes part in a virtual airline is using jaws. There is
a bit of a language barrier that I have to work around so communication
isn't totally clear but, I'm trying to get resolutions to the disappearing
fs navigator window in jaws for example. Also in talking with maricio, I
found that they don't use the regular keyset that is listed in the manual
for flightsim for doing their flying. The more I learn, the more questions
I'm left with. The challenges of trying something knew I suppose. There is
for example a pop up menu that is supposed to give an option that will force
fs navigator to fill the screen and take up the entire space available to
it. I can't seem to figure out a way to get access to this menu yet. I
rather suspect that if I can solve this rather annoying problem, that could
vary well fix the jfw disappearing fs nav window as getting everything, and
I do mean everything flight sim, and fs nav as big as you can make it tends
to make everything work the way it should. Ah, yes and I see the question
coming now alt dash doesn't work for this, and if you use alt space it only
works on the flight sim window. If I knew the propper file to go in and
edit I could put a value in that would in theory force load it in a
maximized state. Then there wouldn't be any problems here.
Recommendations, suggestions? I'm running out of options. I'll try to get
with Maricio and see if I can clarify things a bit. However, I'm almost at
the end of my technical rope here. Grins. Take care all,
Scott

[Audyssey] fs navigator assistance

2007-09-25 Thread Scott Shade
Hello all. Okay, you have to use your jaws cursor a lot in jfw for this or
your wineyes cursor in win-eyes. Under help or options, I can't remember
specificly witch, there is a place to put in your name and registration code
for fsnavigator. Yes, you need to have fsuipc.dll in the modules folder of
flight sim. The procedure here for everything to work together is as
follows. this assumes that you have everything installed and ready to go.
After starting your pc and your good to go do this.

1. Start pm sounds. You may or may not get any feed back on this.
Possibly depending on the screen reader in use, you may get the name of the
file in pm sounds at the top of the list. In either case, it takes only a
couple seconds to load. This can be verified by seeing it in the task bar.
Once you know that that has been loaded go to step two.

2. Load flight sim, this will also load fsuipc as its in its modules
folder.

3. Once that is up and running, then set your options according to what you
want in the program. Now for the fun stuff.

Jfw will give you your most workable read in most cases in the program
though the trick is to tab and shift tab back and forth a bit in the flight
creation pannels and flightplan windows. Window-eyes more correctly reads
some of the buttons in their propper form, though it can't get some of the
text of list views and stuff like that. Irronicly when I was having trouble
with my disappearing fsnav window in jaws I ran it with system access and
found that it gives a farely good read in flight. Though some information
is missing. However, it was next to useless in the dialogs for flight
creation and simi functional in the flightplan window itself. Other than
that, its just been trial and error for me finding what works under specific
conditions. Happy flying all. Take care,
Scott

Hello all. I don't know if this has circulated on this list recently and I

this is a pvp game where the idea is to build a base and launch attacks
against other players. I've started my character up on it again and am
still getting familliar with things again. Its been a while since I played
before when it was up about a year ago so I'm still a relative newbie.
Check it out. The hard core players had been told at least as of a few
weeks ago to go easy on the new guys as they wanted to encourage traffic to
the mud. This project is up for now while they work on a more pumped up
version of the game, or so I've been told. Take care all,

[Audyssey] mume

2007-09-07 Thread Scott Shade
Is anyone having this problem when they try to loggin to mume? You try to
log in with a character name and password and your told that no player
exists by that name. You then type new to loggin to recreate a char and the
system acts like every key press is also being followed by enter cause it
rolls off
There is no character by that name
there is no character by that name
there is no character by that name

then it closes the connection. I've tried changing the port to another one
given on this list and I still have the same problem. Most puzzling. Take
care,
Scott

[Audyssey] fs2002 with fsnavigator and jfw slightly long

2007-09-04 Thread Scott Shade
Okay, I've managed to get these files from wagner as my attempts to get the
sim by other means was unsuccessful and I wanted to be sure I indeed got the
right version. To answer some initial questions. Yes, there is a manual
for fsnavigator. Its an adobe file that is part of the main installation.
In reference to the other message sent to the list about the necessary
components, I've gotten the fsnavigator, pm sounds pluggin, the FSUIPC
pluggin and fs2002 to work reasonably well with jfw 8.0. That having been
said. I'll forewarn you now that if that window that holds fsnavigator gets
positioned out of place by anything, it gets really hard to make the pluggin
work as it should. The screen simply shows up with jfw reading blank,
blank, blank. I can tell you that I purchased the pluggin and it was
supposed to cost about $45.00 U.S. currency. Once the pluggin is registered
I've found the unlocked features to be quite worth it. I will recommend
however, that if your going to try to use this thing, that you be really
good at keyboard reassignments as keyboard use to attempt to fly the
aircraft can and certainly will interfere with jfw operation. I'll also
forewarn you that I've had to read a good majority of the beginners guide to
flying handbook, whitch is about 183 pages in adobe format. And a 75 page
air traffic control guide. You will not, get this up and running within
five minutes and be able to play it as a game. If your going to enjoy this,
you need to approach it as an aviation enthusiast. I also recommend the use
of a joystick for easier control over the aircraft. I don't have one and
I'm really wishing I had one now. I've done a few autopilot runs with
bigger aircraft with reasonable success. If there is a definite interest,
I'll try to do a podcast and post it to blind cool tech or something. Take
care all,
Scott

[Audyssey] joy stick recommendations

2007-09-04 Thread Scott Shade
Hello all. I've never messed with using a joy stick with a pc. Can anyone
make any good recommendations as to a good joy stick to get, or does it
depend on the game? I don't want or really need the force feed back joy
stick as I'm not sure if it would be supported in fs2002. I just need one
with I think up to 7 buttons? I'm not sure for the aircraft control. When
I think of a joy stick, I'm thinking back to the old atari games with them
type of joy sticks and I know thats not the case here. Thanks much,
Scott

Re: [Audyssey] Flight smulation game`

Actually it looks like you can if you go to windows marketplace.com and type
in flight simulator. I saw 2002 there for about $20.00 I think? If memory
serves. I actually called microsoft up about it and they pointed me to it.

A load.
you need to buy fsnavigator then if you use network fswide and then
 fsoupc whatever it is called.
Unless you want to go with slow sharing sites and such.
 pmsounds is free.
Myself I have most of the base packages, however fs2002 I'm going to
have to find some way to obtain that as you can't buy it.

Hello gamers, I was wondering if one of the game developers when they
  get
time can make a flight simulation game. it would be neat. however
  there
  should be challenges
like engine trouble and repairing the plane. the game should also have
turbulents, crashing plane etc. The object is to get your passengers
  safely to their destination
without any mechanical trouble. We can set the routes up just like Jim
kitchen's trucker game. Also I would like to have multiple planes in
  the
  game so you can
select which model jet you want to fly and different routs so you can
  go
to ramdomized routes instead of the same route all the time. Plus we
  should have game creator
menu in the game as well. I think gamers would like to create their own
planes with step by step instructions or prompt levels, or routes etc.
  It is just an idea.
  your friend,
  Jason

Re: [Audyssey] anyone play Microsoft flight simulator

2007-08-28 Thread Scott Shade
I'd actually like to get a trial version of fs 2004 if possible and then try
to buy it if I like what I see with the navigator program combined. I'd
love to fly. Hell just the chance to do something like that not even for
combat purposes butt, just to fly even a personal aircraft or a few of the
commercial jobs over an active route from say springfield illinois to say
sanfrancisco california and do the whole thing from route planning to
aircraft securing and shutdown at destination with all the elements and
environmental stuff along the way would just be neat for me. I remember on
my last flight back from getting my guide dog in california, the captain let
anyone who wanted to listen to it have access to the air to air and air to
ground communications that the crew was hearing in the cockpit over the
planes sound system that you could listen to from your seat. It was
actually really fun to hear my plane get handed off to several different air
traffic control facilities and then to receive orders to move to different
altitudes and actually feel that happen in realtime. Hell I even got to
hear maintenance trucks talking to the tower before going from point a to b
across run ways at chicago before we deplaned. That was an experience I'll
never forget. So to actually beable to hear that and handle the information
from the point of view of the flight crew would really be neat for me.

For a minute there, I thought you were saying that blind people could fly
planes. lol. What I'm trying to say is, we can't possibly fly a plane
unless

there are scripts to make this easier, which according to orin, there are.
remember this is a mainstream game, not an accessible one.

Re: [Audyssey] Looking for Other MUDs

Hello Missy. This is Scott.
How do you manage to navigate around that huge world? The city itself is
quite vast I can't remember the specific name. Anc morporc or something
like that. I could never keep my orientation there. I tried a mage or
something and that took forever to get started. They said I should have
gone with warrior as my first character or something. I tend to like magic

Hi! I didn't see the start of this thread, so if this has already been
mentioned, I apologize. I just would like to recommend Discworld. It is by
far my favorite mud right now. There aren't any race choices, everyone is
human, but the game itself, to me at least is highly enjoyable, especially
if you're a fan of the discworld novels. Being familiar with the novels
definitely isn't manditory, and you can roleplay as much or as little as
you like. A google search will provide you with tons of resources for
making your play time on discworld as enjoyable as possible, and there are
a lot of really friendly people there.
Anyway, for anyone who might be interested in checking this mud out, the
 address is discworld.imaginary.com, port 23.
My character is Eponine, and I'm more than happy to help any newbies out
 if
I can. In fact, I'm getting ready to go to a friend's house tomorrow so
that I can try to teach her how to play.
I hope this recommendation helps somebody find a new game to enjoy, and
that everyone is having a wonderful day.
 Missy

 Hello everyone,

Does everyone remember the MuddyList years ago?

Well, I am recreating it again. Forward this to anyone who was on that
list if you can remember them, and send it to any new blind mudders that
wish to partisipate in the discussion of things including:

Accessible mud clients and or how to make them accessible. (scripts,
 etc).
New Muds that you have found that are actually worth playing. Feel free
to have heated debates about such muds. We allow freedom of speech on
 this group.

Lastly, every time a review from the MudConnect.com comes out, the list
will fetch it and post it automaticly. Feel free to have discussions
about these as well. Anything mudding is welcome here!

Hopefully we'll have new members soon. Feel free to join us and the
 adiction that is muds!

 Happy Mudding!

 Hiya,
If anybody's still interested in this old but good game, I've recently
purchased a registration code for it. I should get the thing within a day
or so, and will be starting up my own server. I'd like to see people use
it--though I've only purchased a 4-node setup, so only four people can
connect at a time. However, as soon as I get the code I'll let you guys
 know the address.
So, on another note, does anybody still play this game? Am I the only
one? It's really one of the most complex text-based games, in my opinion,
and is a heck of a lot of fun.
 Thanks,
 Zack.

[Audyssey] sound rts

2007-07-21 Thread Scott Shade
There's something that the manual doesn't really discuss much. Someone
mentioned on the list I think that you could play the computer in aggressive
mode. All I see are passive maps. How do you get in to aggressive mode?
Thanks much,
Scott

[Audyssey] I found another mud

2007-07-16 Thread Scott Shade
Hello all. I found another mud that I haven't completely formed an opinion
on. I can say that I think its interesting to be sure, and it has a bit of
a learning curve to it. Its called aliens verses predator. Basicly its a
full PK mud, butt, newbies won't be attacked for five hours so that they can
build themselves up. It uses mission points to make you rise levels and get
equipment. You can find better weapons go on staff run missions and stuff
of that nature. The concept is that you take one of three groups the aliens
like are in the movie alien, the yautja race from the movie predator, and
the marines that faught those aliens in alien Ii. The mariens have two
races. human natural soldier, synthetic soldier made from synthetics. They
also have three sub classes you can take. Sniper, rifleman, and specialist.
The aliens are just one race, butt, their sub groups are warrior, sentry,
and drone. The yautja/predator race have hunter, trapper, and vanguard.
The predator hunter and trapper class have these suits that allow you to
become invissible and hunt your apponents. The alien race when you go
warrior has this glan that gives you some interesting abilities. I haven't
played the chars long enough yet to see what its like when you get to the
higher levels. I did my marine char wrong so I haven't really taken a look
at it to much. I really like my predator and alien chars though. the port
and address are

avpmud.com 4000

They seem pretty friendly that is when they're not trying to kill you. I
found that its best to use your five hours wisely. My chars still have a
bit of time left, though I imagine that that won't last to much longer.
Take care all,
Scott

Its one of those that if you've got a group of friends to work with and
you like to get in to a rp setting all the time, then its not bad, but,
I know what you mean.

[Audyssey] I'm getting frustrated

2007-06-18 Thread Scott Shade
Hello all. I don't know if anyone can help with this but, here's my
problem. I'm looking for a mud with a modern day feel that would allow me
to role play if I want. It would have vehicles that you can actually drive
where you could put in a destination and it would actually take time to
drive there. I'd like something where you could work and do odd jobs and
interact with people to accomplish those jobs. And I want something with
something of a different feel to it in a mud. Its really hard to explain
exactly what it is I want, but I'll know it when I find it. Godwars Ii is
different in its own way than most other muds out there, and achaea is also
different from most in the feel of it and how it functions. But, there just
isn't any easy way to find that elusive treasure of a game that really makes
you want to keep coming back for more and grow a character after time. I
know of miriani, but I'm looking for something a bit more um down to earth?
I just don't know how to put what i want in to words but I think if you've
had to really search for that game you just like out of the load of games
out there, you'll know kind of what I mean. Thanks much,
Scott

  Hi all

Do the items change in the phantom every couple hours like they did with
the pumpkin adventure? If so I seriously need to get a better weapon as I'm
  still using the hail blade.

[Audyssey] a couple of questions

2007-06-04 Thread Scott Shade
I'm looking for a really good star trek mud game where I can fly a ship
and assume the role of pilot doing odd jobs if I wish or take a combat
role. I was thinking there was some kind of game though I don't know
if it was a mud or not where you could even explore planets and stuff
like that. Also, there was a bbs out there that had some games on it.
One was called rancho navada. It was an adult game and I also remember
seeing some kind of country management game on it as well. I guess
that network was tied in to some other bbs systems as they had some
kind of inter bbs chat system in place. I don't even remember my
account information that I had there, but if someone can refresh my
memory as to these games that would be great. I'm looking for some
knew stuff to do. Thanks much,
Scott

Re: [Audyssey] Space games

2007-05-05 Thread Scott Shade
Well. There is a knew one that hasn't opened to players yet though there was
an announcement about it on the miriani boards for those among us that were
coders and wanted to help.

http://www.slipgatelegacy.com/

They are hoping to go to alpha play status and accept players farely soon.
Though I think it will probably be a few months yet. Unless they really get
some help over the summer. Other than that in the scifi line I don't really
know of anything else out there.

 Hiya,
The recent discussion of Miriani has lead me to wonder about another
game which the folks at Squidsoft used to run: namely Galaxyweb Stellar
Epoch. I personally rather liked that game, in preference to Star
Conquest. I felt it had a more epic feel to it, or something.
Unfortunately, I know that game's been shut down.
I was wondering if anybody here might be able to recommend a game with
a similar feel or theme, or the like? I just love toying with all the
 technological gadgets.
 Thanks much,
 Zack.

Re: [Audyssey] discworld mud

2006-12-20 Thread Scott Shade
They have a faq section to their website, and they have player pages that
are out there for the various guilds, but, The mud itself is so big and
things seem to be well a bit vague as far as how you can actually go about
advancing yourself. If you didn't know about the player pages, you might
end up being discouraged with the mud even though, its a rather bizarre
world.

operational againe. I know they spoke of significant rewrites to the code of
the game and such. Thanks,
