Hi Lori, That is not what I meant. When you are one step in the room you can check the distance to the creature. Say it is 10 feet. When you step out of the room you can't check its distance. But when you step one step back is the creature still 10 feet away, or is it closer? --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. It's the current version you're dealing with, though, and if it requires service pack 3, I would make sure that I have it. I had this exact situation once with a game that required a newer version of directx than what I was using. Previous versions of the game worked fine, but the updated one did not. I installed the required software and it worked. Take it from experience, check which service pack you are using, and update if necessary. --- Shepherds are the best beasts! - Original Message - From: "Muhammed Deniz" To: "Gamers Discussion list" Sent: Sunday, October 24, 2010 10:59 AM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] MOTA suggestion I don't think so. Hi Muhammed, Yeah, that's the blue screen of death bug alright. It is driving me crazy because I don't have the foggiest idea what is causing the game to crash and restart the system. I'm about ready to try SDL or something else and see if that will make the game and engine more stable. On 10/23/10, Muhammed Deniz wrote: > Hi Thomas, > I thought this might help you. It is not a matter of I can't do it, but that you are asking for quite a bit of extra work adding a feature that has very little value from my standpoint. I've got a number of errors I need to run down and fix, still need to finish adding joystick/mouse support to the engine, have at least 10 levels to complete, need to add in the registration system, etc. I have quite enough work for the next two/three months just getting the game and the engine itself up and fully running if I hope to make a Christmas release or close to it. I really don't want to spend a day or two working on features that has no real value to the average gamer at the expense of getting the game done and ready for sale. Hi Peter, In MOTA enemies can not follow you to a different room. In many respects the game is similar to a lot of classic side-scrollers where enemies are placed in a specific room or area and can't leave it. So closing a door would have no effect on that aspect of the game. In some rooms, this can be verified by, let's say, the sound of fire pits, a swinging rope, a statue, or other sounds. If you are walking, and you take a step but hear nothing, then take another step and hear the step, you have entered another room. To verify this, press r, back up 2 steps and press r, and you will find that you are in the previous room. --- Shepherds are the best beasts! - Original Message - From: "Ryan Strunk" To: "'Gamers Discussion list'" Sent: Saturday, October 23, 2010 12:33 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] MOTA suggestion I think the point is that he, and I for that matter, don't want to use the R key. Re: [Audyssey] MOTA suggestion
Hi, I would say that feature adds a bit more to the realism of the game. I would find it interesting to have it. Also it helps not getting lost sometimes. If you for example don't have a torch and walk through one room and into the next, it is hard to tell when the old room ends and the new room begins. Just close the door, and you already know where you are.
