Instead of changing v, how about control v to look only in the direction you
are facing?
In the GMA engine you can have the function look for any key hit which stops
the view function.
You could also look for a specific key such as alt to stop the function.

That is not a bug. All items will play sounds and show up on the view
command when a torch is burrning. If a torch is not burning the room is
dark, and the items therefore can't be seen.

The i key is hard coded into the Genesis Engine as an alternative up
arrow. I have no plans to change that since it is a core feature of the
engine, and it makes it easier to play if you are on a computer with a
weird arrow key layout.

No it is not a Phantom ledge, but if you don't hold the keys down long
enough Angela will fall short of the ledge and fall back to the floor.
If you aren't high enough to reach the ledge the same will happen. It is
tricky and all I can say is it takes practice to get it right.
