I use Gimp 2.10. When I duplicate a layer and modify that layer, say hue
chroma, there are no changes visible on my Mac desktop. On my Mac laptop
the changes register. However, these changes on the laptop are seen in
both layers. What am I doing wrong?

Hi,
I made a picture where that was explained (see attachment).

Hi,
No, but you can make copies of these layers, scale them down and arrange them to
fit on canvas.

I need to increase the sharpness in some of my photographs but I cannot find
the "Value" function in the "layers" menu.
Could you let me know where to find it.
Thanks very much in advance.

I have found The Book of Gimp, by Olivier Lecarme and Karine Delvare to be a
marvelous resource, well worth the money for a new GIMPer, especially if you

You can only do two things with a float: Make it a new layer by

Find it hard to believe that I didn't get much help last week so let me try
again...
Can anyone recommend a hands on tutorial for learning layers? Would this book
transfer over to Gimp?

Good day!
You might want to try to look through the help of GIMP itself. Have a look at
this URL: http://gimp.open-source-solution.org/manual/index.html . Section 8 is
a good place to start for someone looking to understand layers as far as I can
guess.
Good luck!

Is it possible to retreive the layers structure in a plain text file
or
in a CSV or in a TSV file from an XCF project ?
If you install xcftools, one of the commands is 'xcfinfo' which
gives layer information.
But maybe, that is not what you want?
