Greetings!
I'm new to the Gimp, and I was reading the online
version of "Grokking the GIMP" and noticed that my
version is missing several things described in the
book. For example, There are no thumbnail previews in
the "File->Open" dialog; no resolution options in the

interesting question for me.
I would like to ask, what are the methods or steps to successfully
identify objects in images. I know I can use fuzzy select and it is easy
when the background is a single color. But when I scan an

Hi all,
If you create a shape in GFig, and set the options on the Paint tab to be :
* Draw on Brush;
* Using Multiple;
* Transparent.
it creates a layer containing your shape, but with a white background.
Shouldn't it create a layer with a transaprent background ??

Alex,
No, that is not what I want (at least I dont think soI am not sure what
you mean by Free Select tool). What you have suggested makes a selection of
the boundary itself, but I want to be able to select the area inside the
boundary.
Consider the GFig function again. You draw a shape in
Hello,
I am a problem during the compilation of Gimp 1.1.24. After the script

Try using the bezier tool to draw your path instead of a pencil

After reinstalling gimp, everything works fine now.

My apologies for the lame answer, only just realised after reading earlier
posts that bezier isnt the tool your looking for. Michaels post of alpha to
selection, then selection to path sounds like it may be what your looking
