Re: saving
have prompted me regarding the layers during the save, unless there's a good reason someone would want to save something other than what they currently see. What version of Gimp are you using? I'm using 1.1.28 and everytime I forget to flatten an Image it prompts me "Jpegs do not allow multiple layers. Would you like to export this image?" All I do is click 'OK' and it flattens it for me right there (this is excellent if you want to preserve your layers for later editing because when you're done with the save you end up with your original multi-layered image). Just thought I'd add that. -- +--+--+ | Deus Ex Heli0s {kevin} | "danaos timeo et | | [EMAIL PROTECTED]| dona ferentes" | | http://www.heli0s.com| -virgil | +--+--+ | Linux Inside; Slackware 7.01; Kernel 2.2.17 | +-+
saving
Ok, this is a really basic question, but... I'm in the middle of making a logo, and it looks great, but when I save it as a jpg and view it, it's all washed out as a single colour. Is saving a file supposed to be this difficult? Mike -- Michael P. Are you creating your image on multiple layers? If so, you have to flatten it (button 3 - Flatten image in the layers dialog) before saving. Only the gimp native format (.xcf files) understands the layers format. In other cases, it saves only the currently active layer. Conditions for saving an AVI file.
Hi, Does anyone know the conditions for "Save as" when trying to save as an AVI file? When I create an animation in the GAP, and then select "Save As", the dialog will not permit me to save the file as an AVI file(Its grayed out). However, if I create an animation via Script-Fu-animators-(say waves), I'm allowed to save as an AVI file. I've tried tweaking some of the frames(Cropping, flattening, and adjusting the colors), but it seems to have no effect. I'm using version 1.x.24. Thanks for any help. As a test, could you edit the file named "avi" in /usr/local/gimp/1.1/plug-ins/avi (or weherver it is installed) and change the line "RGB", to "RGB*", After restarting, does this solve the problem for you? -- -==- | ==-- _ | ---==---(_)__ __ __ Marc Lehmann +-- --==---/ / _ \/ // /\ \/ / [EMAIL PROTECTED] |e| -=/_/_//_/\_,_/ /_/\_\ XX11-RIPE --+ The choice of a GNU generation | |

Thank you, Alan. I'm well aware of the gif image spec. I don't think that's the problem but I appreciate the response. In Debian there is a gimp-nonfree (and gimp1.1-nonfree) package. You might try that, or the equvilant for your distro. Tal On Mon, 11 Sep 2000 02:44:52 -0700 (PDT), Amy said: : Thank you, Alan. I have a problem with rotating the text when I rotate the text to 45 deg / 3.14/4 rad it looses it sharpness and the characters breaks it is a big eye sore I am using gimp_floating_selection_attach gimp_floating_selection_anchor does not help either I have tried antialising feathering but did not help either What am I missing? Saving as EPS
I have a problem with saving image in eps format The image saved is of 18 MB ? the same if I save it as gif it comes to about 8 Kb I have not worked with eps formats but I am sure 18 MB is not normal even for eps My second problem is in color seperation all the other colors get seperated in to their respective cmyk format except for black which shows in all the four modes as otherwise it should only appear in the K(cmyK) mode I used Perl for scripting and gimp 1.1.4 Thanx in advance Chetan

I have not worked with eps formats but I am sure 18 MB is not normal even for eps It is. You are moving a raster format to a vector format. The result is one of the least efficient you will see in life. Maybe is something about the DPI. What DPI are you using? My second problem is in color seperation all the other colors get seperated in to their respective cmyk format except for black which shows in all the four modes as otherwise it should only appear in the K(cmyK) mode IIRC there is no gray reduction or whatever the name in English. The right should be to pass all black to K channel or ask about how much, but there is not. Supposing EPS filter saves to CMYK, a thing I dunno. I used Perl for scripting and gimp 1.1.4 Old Gimp, 1.1.25 is the latest. GSR

saving in EPS
Hey there. I'm trying to use the Gimp for creating EPS diagrams to be included in a LaTeX document. Unfortunately, every time I try to save as PostScript with the EPS option, I get the error: Postscript save cannot handle images with alpha channels How do I fix this problem so I can save? I don't see anything under image-alpha for removing alpha channels, not that I'm too sure what they are or why there in by default. Thanks, Mike -- Michael P. Soulier [EMAIL PROTECTED]
