Hi all,
Yestterday, a friend of mine had brought a laptop of Sony VAIO asking for
installation of JAWS.
While trying to install, JAWS announced:
The Programme cannot be installed in this platform, contact
freedomscientific.
The JAWS software was of 32 bit and I check the laptop and was also
Is there any free accessible DVD playing software that works well with windows

application that has hot keys for things like pause/play, revind/forward etc
and allows one to navigate through the various files/folders in the
Hi.
Did you download the 64 bit version by accident perhaps? I know on the
DVD that if it will detect your platform and install the appropriate
version of JAWS, but obviously this will not happen on the download.
Take care.

Thanks for the name of the laptop, because as posted here are none of

The main thing is that you will need to hook up a regular mouse for
the device to show up for disabling. Now sense you didn't say which

Well I figured it out.
I open a zip file in Winzip with control+o.
I then go to actions menu and down arrow until encript and tab to password
and then reenter.
So easy when you know how. LOL
I tried to password protect a PDF file using Windows XP Pro by going into
properties but had no luck.

Hello Kuenga,
Are you sure that the version of Windows is 32-bit? The processor might be
32-bit but JAWS 32-bit is for Windows 32-bit. If you have 64-bit Windows
then you need 64-bit JAWS. Also, for XP Professional you need JAWS
Professional. If you have a JAWS standard license then it will
?Does this also work the same in Windows Live Mail?
Thanks,

Hi Trish Mr. Lynch;
Thank you both
If a professional license of jaws was needed for the operating system
installed, jaws should still install but run in 40-minute demo mode.

It must be licensed to the purchaser of the jaws program. marilyn-

It wouldn't matter if licensed or not. When jaws first installs it is
in demo mode until licensed.
His problem is it won't install at all.

Yes, you are right. The licensing information I gave from Freedom
Scientific really is an activation-related issue. However, it still might
be that the processor is 32-bit and Windows is 64-bit, in which case the
32-bit JAWS won't work on the 64-bit operating system. It wasn't clear to
me when

You might want to talk to him again about that op.
Because you can't run a 64bit op on a 32bit cpu.

One more thing to add here regarding this dreaded WLM update is the jaws alt
plus number row keys no longer announces fields. For example alt+3 says the

Hello Kuenga,
Tim and Doris are exactly right. I don't know why I wasn't thinking clearly
when writing you. I guess I have too many projects going on at once or I
didn't have enough coffee before writing. You can't run 64-bit Windows on a
32-bit processor. As far as software is concerned,
VLC is freeware but sadly most of it is inaccesible WRT hot keys to FF,
rewind, play, jump from title to title etc.
