If I open an email, I don't seem to be able to change in to JAWS cursor and
read the top of the message heading where the to and cc fields are which is

Has anyone had any similar issues?
The only way I can read the to and cc fields is to shift+tab back to them
and it is sometimes useful to use the JAWS cursor to read the top part of
the screen.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Have to get new MS office suite

2018-07-12 Thread Jim Pursley
We just upgraded to Office 365 from Thunderbird email client and Office 2010.
I don't do much with Word, but with O365 I didn't need to uninstall anything.
Just got a Microsoft account, bought the O365 home with 5 connections and so
far it's running pretty smoothly. I've never used Outlook, so I kept Tbird.
After a few days (I'll read the FS tutorial on Outlook I bought recently) I can
do everyday stuff like send, receive, forward, etc. Bottom line, I've not
found Office 2016 (which I downloaded) much different than 2010-especially for
Excel which I constantly use. I even see some benefits to Outlook over
Thunderbird. The exchange server we had to get with O365 works faster and more
reliably than our former server of the POP variety. So..kicking and screaming
I upgraded and survived with a growing smile on my face.

Hey Wayne.

I just upgraded from office 2010 32-bit to 2016 64-bit. I used 2016 before at
my old work and found that it worked really well with jAWS 18 except for the
semi-usual jAWS crashes, which I recently discovered seem less of an issue if
you stick to good ole' Eloquence. I do find that certain things, like the
spell-check, seems to work better in 2016.

I would upgrade to 2016 because it's the latest non-365 version and will
continue to be supported for quite some time.

I made a backup of my outlook data using the export feature. In the end, even
though I had to uninstall Office completely in order to install the new
version, those files were retained in my data folders and so I did not end up
needing to use the backup. The same should be true for you, but just backup the
folders anyway, just in case.

Well, it is here. I am getting notices from Microsoft that my MS Office 2007 is
no longer supported. I have basic needs and do not want to have to relearn
everything again if I don't have to. I can upgrade through my school to
something less than 365. I could use some advice as to which MS Office is most
constant with the older version. I have used 2010 and it worked reasonable
well. I Have Windows 7 and JAWS 15 but I do have upgrades to current versions
that I have not used. Any thoughts would be appreciated. On a related note I
currently have my emails sent to my MS Outlook 2007. If I upgrade will the
folders that I have created automatically export to say Outlook 2016?

Thanks for any help,

I occasionally experience the run on word issue you seem to be

Re: [JAWS-Users] Firefox reader view

2018-04-11 Thread Jim Pursley
It does seem strange to me taht the reader sometimesfails to read an
article for me, though I can download the text and read it in the
published format.  The Economist is the only publisher I've encountered
which reader does not read.  Adrian, what are some publications which
don't format in reader for you?  Maybe there is a common thread, like a
hard pay wall.  For sure, reader does not read truncated articles
(continued, read more, etc.) for the most part. It usually in my
experience requires a full article for it to open.

Hi, Jim. In your reply to a separate query, you mention the Firefox key combo
control-alt-r, which I know you've done in the past. However, I can't find my notes on
that thread. Is this Firefox's "reader view"? I've looked online, but the
instructions don't seem to work for me. Also, I see an alternative key sequence of alt,
v, r, but this doesn’t work either.

Would you explain reader view or point to an explanation, and maybe give a link
to a page where it works?

Here's the webpage of instructions that I found:

Re: [JAWS-Users] thunderbird

Leonard nailed it.  Here's a wrinkle.  Just hitting enter defaults each
addressee as a "to".  If you want an addressee to be a cc or a bcc just
shift tab from the address line and arrow to the one you want.  I
usually just enter down until I'm finished with addressees but sometimes
I want a bcc to keep the addressee hidden from the others.  Bureaucratic
tricks!

Hi, George.

I don't have an answer to your specific question, but I do have some
thoughts.

First, once you've opened the page, try F5 to reload it and JAWS key+escape
to refresh. These two steps should ensure the page is stable.

You might also maximize the page with alt-spacebar followed by x.

You mention tabbing to get to the edit field. Tabbing will put you in the
edit field only if you're already in another edit field.

Finally, have you tried accessing the edit fields with another browser? I
was having a similar problem, only the reverse of yours. On a certain
website, I couldn't get into an edit field with IE11, but I could get there
with Chrome.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Why does JAWS say "clickable" when it isn't?

2018-01-10 Thread Jim Pursley
I recall a response from FS that the "clickable" ghost issue is a known
item and they're working on a fix.  I've no further information,
though.  When I switched to Firefox as my default browser about 6 months
ago when IE insisted on opening pdf's in the browser, the everpresent
clickable sound was a real nuisance. Now it's just a nuisance.  Humans
have a wonderful talent for drowning out useless noise so long as it
does not tweak the emotions.

But yes, I was just wondering about this. I understand that there often *is*
"clickable" text on a webpage, and JAWS is trying to inform me of this fact.
But on many pages, every line will say "clickable", even though there is
nothing to click/nothing happens when you click. Why is this? And can I get
a happy medium somewhere? Obviously I don't want to miss important
information about a page, but when I'm reading a wikipedia article or IMDB
review or something and hear "clickable, clickable, clickable", on what
appears to be static text - that just seems like weird, excessive noise.

Re: [JAWS-Users] VFO's Pearl Camera offer

2017-12-16 Thread Jim Pursley

Hi, Adrian

I have the Pearl/Open Book combination.  I use the camera for physical
scanning.  It scans faster than a flat or curved bed scanner but
scanning books must be done face up, presenting a bit of a problem for
pressing down securely to get a good scan read.  I resolved the press
down issue by putting a piece of glass over the book to be scanned and
pressing down.  Scanning is then pretty comparable to the larger
flat/curved bed machines.   The camera is mounted on a tripod, which
folds up for travel.  In all, I'm pleased with the setup.

Important information for users of Mozilla Firefox

Jonathan Mosen October 25, 2017 0

Overview

On November 14, Mozilla is expected to release a new version of its Firefox
web browser. Firefox 57 represents such a significant technical and
performance change that it's going to be known as Firefox Quantum. Mozilla
and mainstream reviewers of the beta code agree, the browser is much faster
and more memory efficient.

The reason why mainstream users will see such a significant speed increase
with Firefox Quantum is that it is switching to a multiprocess methodology.
Unfortunately, Mozilla in their switch to multiprocess for Firefox has
chosen an accessibility approach in which each call for JAWS to obtain
information takes orders of magnitude more time. We are disappointed that
Mozilla has not at this time adopted the highly performant approach that
Google took with Chrome to increase security while at the same time allowing
screen readers to access information at unparalleled speed without needing
to make any changes.

For now, we recommend switching to the Extended Support Release (ESR) of
Firefox as work on the accessibility issues continues, because even when you
are running assistive technology that supports Firefox Quantum, performance
with Firefox will be much worse than you are used to. We're working with
Mozilla to improve the situation and are hopeful of further improvement.

We appreciate that if you're a Firefox user, it's software you are likely to
use many times every day. We want by way of this post to explain the
situation as it currently stands and how we got here, plus what we're doing
about it and steps you can take so that in the short to medium term, you can
use Firefox with the same degree of responsiveness you're used to.

Short-term Work-around

For now, there is a way to avoid upgrading to Firefox Quantum while keeping
your browser updated with important security fixes. You can install Firefox
ESR (Extended Support Release). The Quantum changes are not scheduled to be
rolled out to this release until the second quarter of 2018, by which time
we hope the accessibility situation with Firefox Quantum will have improved.

Compatibility

While we cannot recommend Firefox Quantum at this time, we appreciate that
some people may be curious and want to experiment with it. Firefox Quantum
will not work in any fashion unless you are running the latest versions of
JAWS 2018, JAWS 18, ZoomText 11 and MAGic 14. Previous versions of our
assistive technology are not compatible with Firefox Quantum.

To ensure Quantum will run at all, please ensure you are running the most
current version of the above technologies. Please visit our downloads page
for the latest software.

If going current with your assistive technology isn't possible, the Firefox
ESR release discussed above will continue to work at this time with the
technology you have. This will not always be the case, so if using Firefox
is important to you, you should make plans to bring your technology
up-to-date over the next few months.

When it is installed, Firefox Quantum will be able to detect if older
assistive technology is running that is not compatible. When this is the
case, Firefox Quantum will alert you to this.

Performance

Unfortunately, even if you have an assistive technology product that has
been updated to accommodate Mozilla's new approach, you will notice a
serious deterioration in performance. We would go as far as saying that at
this point, you would not want to use Firefox Quantum for your daily
browsing. Pages will take a long time to load, and navigating pages will be
problematic.

The reason for this is that Firefox's implementation of multiprocess has
caused a marked deterioration in the speed of communication between the
browser and assistive technology.

As our users who browse with Google Chrome, which has been using
multiprocess for some time, can confirm, multiprocess browsers can provide a
highly responsive experience comparable with what Firefox users are
accustomed to, and it is still our hope that Mozilla might adopt a similar
approach.

The problem created by Firefox Quantum is a complex technical one, but we
believe all our users are entitled to an explanation, so here's our best
shot. To give you a browsing experience that is the most flexible available,
as well as being intuitive and accurate, JAWS behaves a bit like an
impatient child on a long car journey. It asks Firefox many questions on a
regular basis, including "are we there yet". In the past, Firefox had no
difficulty answering all our questions quickly and patiently, meaning we
could always give you up-to-the-second information about what was happening
on the web page. For our readers with some

So..

Has anyone Hey folks. Haven't seen any discussion about this yet. On
another list, someone posted an article about this, which I cannot
seem to find the URL for, but if people are interested I guess I
could cross-post it. In
brief: Firefox Quantum has a new "multiprocessing" approach that
means it will be twice as fast for everyone else, but it will not
play nicely with JAWS or other screen-readers. We're essentially at
the same stage now (or will be come November) as we are with Edge, in
that it's going to be a work in progress for quite some time, and
from what I've read, it may be difficult to continue implementing the
virtual buffer concept. This is, to me, annoying to say the least, as
I use Firefox all the time and have been really happy with it up til
now. I also think the virutal buffer a great innovation for web
browsing and would hate to give it up, unless a better alternative
was

developed.

Has anyone thoughts on this? I used to laugh at "old people" (in
quotes there, in case you have punctuation set to "some" or "none")
who moaned about things changing too fast and that they couldn't keep
up. Now, at 37, I'm feeling the bite. I'm happy to no longer be using
Windows XP, yet it seems like every month (since getting Windows 10
and JAWS 18 in particular), there's some new thing I have to fix that
wasn't broken before; some time I have to spend figuring a workaround
to one thing or another, or a doomful press release about how I won't
be able to use this-or-that once a certain update happens.

Fortunately, for us Firefox users, I guess we can still install the
ESR (Extended Support Release) of the browser, and get security
updates, without a Quantum upgrade, until sometime in 2018. Guess
I'll be doing that, then!

Brilliant, Mike.  The Ins + 4 list is very handy but it does not have
everything I need for Portuguese, like the circonflex and the tilde (or

The Dodgers have turned murder's row from a batting context to a

Is there a way to have JAWS automatically add accent marks in a foreign
language word when writing in English?

For example, if I were to write the name Therese which is a French name but
I am writing the document in English, can the correct accent marks be either
added or automatically set to add any time I write the name?

If I need to add them manually, how can I locate them on the keyboard? Not
all of them are on the standard typing keyboard.

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks.

Re: [JAWS-Users] stopping music

2017-09-12 Thread Jim Pursley
Here's an interesting workaround possibility.  I've noticed that when an
add or  music starts from a web page and I switch to Firefox View (alt
control R) the noise stops.  Fireffox view does not work on web pages
that have security blocks but it works on the majority of them including
the NYTimes and the Washington Post.

Internet Explorer has an option in its preferences to disable sounds in

haven't found this option in Firefox, but I haven't really looked into it
extensively. Some of these pages that autoplay music have a frame in them
with a series of buttons, including one that lets you stop or pause the
audio. So depending on the page, also try navigating to buttons using "b",
or even using the find feature to look for a word like "stop" sometimes
works.

Re: [JAWS-Users] List boxes

2017-09-11 Thread Jim Pursley
I ran across the same issue with an audible download list box. Alt
arrow and arrowing did nothing.  I did not stay with the issue because I
was not really interested in the list box items and moved on to my
download. But I too have encountred some hoakey list boxes.  Here's the
following from a google search, leading me to a document on
/Geocities.com which discussed JAWS and key strokes.  No date,
unfortunately.

http://www.geocities.ws/jawsnotes/menus_shortcuts.htm

I have not yet tried the instructions.
Here's the relevant text on list boxes
A list box displays a list of choices in a rectangular box where you
pick your choice from the list. There are two types, open and drop-down.
An open list
box automatically displays all choices that will fit the box, while a
drop-down list box displays one choice, and displays the rest by a
mouse-user clicking

the list box or its arrow button.

There is probably some useful information in the JAWS Keystrokes list.
Arrow down to activate the list box. Then use up or down arrow to scroll
through options.  The Home key will move the cursor focus to the first
item in
the list.  The End key will move the focus to the last item.  Type the
first letter of an option to move focus directly to it in the drop down
list.

Spacebar selects an item in a list. When you have selected an item you
can press INSERT + UP ARROW to read the selected item.

Tab selects the option in the List box which is read by Jaws and moves
to next option in dialog box.

Ctrl Spacebar Selects another item in the list box in non-continuous
mode.  The same as pressing Ctrl + left click.  Ctrl down or up arrow
permits non-continuous
selection of items in a list box.  When used for the first time, the
item that you move away from stays selected.   Shift down or up arrow
continuous selection

of items in a list box.

I would turn off the virtual ribbon. It is handy, but you become dependent
on them and they don't work as well as the original menus, since they don't
use first-letter navigation. I tried them briefly years ago and decided to
buckle down and just learn to use the ribbons.

Re: [JAWS-Users] excel reading headers.

2017-08-15 Thread Jim Pursley
The simplest way to mark row and column headers for JAWS reading is not,
however, always a permanent one. The process I use is so simple and
quick that it's OK if I occasionally need to restate them.

Press the JAWS key (insert) but first make sure it's a sticky key so
that it will stay actuated while you press other keys. Then hold down
the alt and control keys while pressing r, then c. R marks the row
headers and C marks column headers. Before you press the short cut keys
though you need to move the virtual cursor (speaking JAWS) to the
intersection of rows and columns that you want to speak. Note you may
mark either R, C or both as you need. JAWS will speak the header as you
cross it.

Hi. I'm writing to explain the new JAWS repair method I learned today from
VFO. Previously, I'd taken the file of the currently running JAWS build, put
it in the C drive, copied the exact wording into a Windows run dialog, etc.
this procedure failed twice for me today. VFO seems to know about this
because when I called, they had me follow the procedure I'll detail below,
and it worked. I don't know why it is different, but somehow it is. So, here
goes.

First, make sure you have the .exe file on your system for the JAWS build
you're running. You can download it from the FS/VFO website.

Unlike before, it doesn't seem to matter where you keep it on your system.

Close all running apps.

Highlight the JAWS .exe file.

Press shift-F10.

Arrow up to "Copy as path." Press enter.

Open the run dialog with Windows key-r.

Press control-v, then spacebar, then / (the forward slash key), then the
word "type", spacebar, and then the word "repair."

Let me try that command line a different way. After pressing control-v
followed by the spacebar, continue with /type repair

Then press enter.

The process went more smoothly than any JAWS repair I can remember, and it
went all the way to the end.

I hope this is useful.

[JAWS-Users] Issue with Thunderbird latest and pdfs resident on the web

2017-08-07 Thread Jim Pursley
I'm getting a buffering effect on Thunderbird when I scroll the inbox
and write messages after reading pdf's resident on the internet - but
not after reading pdf's which come as email attachments. The key
response delay happens intermittently, but often enough to be a bother
until I reboot Windows and Tbird returns to its happy normal self.
Windows task manager shows no untoward processes running, so I should
have plenty of processing memory.

Running JAWS 18 latest build, Win7 and Firefox latest. IE11 insists on
opening pdf's in the browser no matter what I attempted (even looking
for the add on to turn off)

FS email tech support suggests uninstalling JAWS 18 and reinstalling it,
but I'm skeptical that it would accomplish anything.

Anyone else with this issue?

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Saving online Adobe Document

Good Evening,

I have had this problem for quite awhile since my bank changed its
layout and I'm wondering, if with the updates to JAWS, there is a
solution.

Here is my issue.

I want to save the Adobe .PDF document of my monthly bank statement
from the website. Before, all I had to do was select the correct
one, right click and save target as.

Now, however, I first have to select an item in each of the
following combo boxes, name of the document, month and year for the
document and then type of document.

Once that is finished, I then select a button "Get Document."

It then opens up the .PDF online and in the menu when right
clicking, there are several options, one of them is "SAVE," which is
not visible to me. Others are, but not "Save."
There is no other way to save this document to my computer without
selecting the "Get Document" button and opening it first.

I have to have someone click on the "Save" button and then it takes
me to the area where I can name the document, choose the
destination, etc.

I have encountered this on a few other websites as well.

Does JAWS now offer some way of reading that grayed out area to save
the document for these types of Adobe .PDF files.

I have found no other way of doing it.

Thanks.

Vicki

Is your adobe reader configured to read pdf's in the browser? You'll
find the check box to do so or not do do so in the accessibility wizard
in your adobe reader. Alt v for the view menu and arrow down to
accessibility. Right arrow and select accessibility wizard. Just click
next until you reach the last page and uncheck the box read in browser.
Online pdf's should read directly on your system. This said, I had to
switch to firefox as my default browser from ie11 as I could not find a

Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws 18 and PDF?

2017-07-22 Thread Jim Pursley
If you have Open Book you'll find that you'll seldom use Convenient
OCR. You can read scanned and secure pdf's in Open Book as well as any
other scanned material larger than a banner (convenient OCR may be
better for small scans). You might want to make a short cut key for
Open Book (I use O). To access scanned material just hit Control P and
your printers will pop up..Open Book is your Freedom printer. Just
click on the name and your doc will open in Open Book. JAWS will now
work in Open Book, so you don't need to suppress JAWS. Open Book has a
really good help section. Just use F6 to toggle. You may need no
training to use it.

Mike B. did a marvelous job of listing the preparations JAWS users need
to make for Adobe DC (latest). You will need to use the accessibility
wizard and to uncheck some items in the preferences tree. In adobe,
just hit control K and the list will pop up. Go to enhanced scecurity
and uncheck protected view. In the accessibility wizard you will also
want to uncheck opening the pdf's in the browser. I particularly like
reading a whole document, not page by page - even long documents. Most
newer computers are fast enough to load even a 70 or so page pdf with
some ease.

Tehre are of course more detailed instructions to give but you may be
aable to complete your pdf orientation with the above suggestions.)

Hi, Vicky. I'll answer with a qualified yes. I'm assuming that JAWS 16 doesn't
have the Convenient OCR feature, but I could be wrong. With convenient OCR,
JAWS makes it easy to convert PDF files. The typical sequence of keystrokes is
JAWS key+spacebar, then o for OCR, then d for document. You wait a while, not
long at all for short documents and maybe a few minutes for longer ones, and
then the text of the PDF file is displayed in a new window.

If you can live with those steps, the Convenient OCR feature is well
worthwhile. I use it all the time.

You'll need to use the ribbon menus to delete a sheet.

Hit the alt key and arrow down the Home menu to cells submenu. Arrow to
delete cells. press enter and you'll find a split button menu. . Hit
it and arrow to delete sheet. make sure that the sheet you want to
delete is the one you're on and hit delete and zap, it will be gone.

I forgot this routine (it's not exactly obvious) but did a goodle search
for Excel 2010,delete worksheet and the second answer was a bingo (from
Microsoft no less).

I tried it and deleted sheet 3 of 3.
The context menu's delete function is for rows or columns (you can get
there alternatively by using the hot key combo Alt E,d and then 4
options will pop up - the same 4 as in the context key).

The ins/spacebar/t layered keystroke stays in effect until you hit
escape or any other key. You can reactuate table navigation at any time

It goes off when you exit the table.

Some tables are set up by the publisher to read not only the cell in
question but it's column, too, as you go across a row.

The table keystrokes and the quick title identifier Excel keystrokes
(Alt/control.R and alt control T, are also awesome navigational aids.

This said, I'm encountering some recently programmed web pages where the
tagblee consists only of column heads. Everything else is a "grid". I

I know this comes up a lot, but now it’s my turn to ask. lol.

I have an Excel spreadsheet with 17 sheets. I want to define column
title reading for each sheet. I got it working for the first sheet,
but I can’t seem to get the others to work. I’m thinking I have to
define each sheet separately. Is that correct? I’m not sure what to
turn off and what to turn on to do this.

Also, the spreadsheet is currently in protected mode. Do I have to
turn off protected mode to make and save these changes for Jaws to
retain them?

Thanks for any help. I’m not a very good excel user. lol.

Re: [JAWS-Users] account in box on Thunderbird

2017-03-14 Thread Jim Pursley
Tom, your Thunderbird should include as default an In box and draft,
sent and trash boxes. You can add other mailboxes by moving the cursor
above the in box and hitting the applications key. Arrow down to new
folder and zap - you have a new folder/box.

On moving back and forth from the Tree View to mailboxes. Even though
I've had Thunderbird for about three years I still sometimes tab when I
should use the arrow keys as I am navigating from mailbox to mailbox
through the tree view. Don't be afraid to tab your heart out until you
find what you want. Thunderbird is very stable and forgiving, I've found.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Audible or Book Share

2017-01-20 Thread Jim Pursley
Audible has professional actors reading their books. Most Audible books
are commercial audiobooks but somee are actually commissioned by
audible. JAWS, thankfully, does not read Audible books nor is their a
need for it to read them. NBookshare is another horse entirely. The
plus about bookshare is that it comes in text, with speech and it's
cheap. I've found its coverage not generally to my liking. Audible is
only speech, and should be considered more of a bookstore than the
library that bookshare is. Bookshare's original purpose, I think, was
to provide educational materials while Audible's is to make money by
providing a wide variety of reading materials.

I get by with Audible and NLS just fine; they supply me with more books
to my liking than I can possibly read. By the way, Audible's Platinum
subscription provides 24 books a year for $229, less than 10 bucks per
book.

Are you using Adobe DC or 11 or earlier? DC doesn't want to read
sometimes, though it's visible on the screen. Open Book works like a
charm, even with secure documents. The Kurzeweil 1000 is probably on
par with Open Book.

I had a problem with JAWS 17 reading Adobe DC when I downloaded it but
it seems to be working fine for me now. I've made all of the
accessibility settings and checked not to read it in the browser -
though Adobe DC is forcing me there. So if I want to email a pdf I get
on the web, I must save it to my hard drive first..then email.

I am looking for settings in the PDF document, not in JAWS, although if
there are settings that will improve the readability of PDF documents by

I was doing my bank statement this morning and reading it with JAWS 18

Hi Jim,
If you have 1 or 2 websites that you have to access with Firefox, you
could

try this:
1. Put a portable version of Firefox on your computer
2. Create a Desktop shortcut for the Firefox.exe file.
3. Launch Firefox, and then go to the website you want.
4. Set this website as the home page in Firefox.
5. If you have another website to access, I believe Firefox has the
capability for having multiple home pages.
Now, when you need to access those sites, launch Firefox from your
Desktop

shortcut, and the web page you want should be right there.
Additionally, any other sites you need Firefox for could be added to the
Bookmarks, and should be easier to access from within that browser.
Doing this would eliminate the need to change your default browser,
and keep

the sites relative to the browser needed to access them.

What is a simple, menu driven, process in IE is a workaround in
Firefox! The number of sites on which Firefox works better has grown to
three and may grow as I think the IE is a legacy product so far as
Microsoft is concerned. I think that for now I'll set the site I use
most with Firefox as my home page so accessing it is a one click
operation - just powering up Firefox.

Interestingly, when I go to my internet favorites in C users under my name,

However, when I bring up internet Explorer 11, the favorites are not listed
alphabetically. Instead, as I noted before, they are listed

I'm puzzled as to how to get the favorites list under c users to be

Hi Kevin!

I have found that sometimes, JAWS will read the check box label twice,
one with the checkbox at the end, and the other sometimes with and
sometimes without the checkbox.

In the case where only one label has the checkbox, it's obvious which
one is the correct one to check, but when they both seem to have the
checkbox, it gets tricky.

What I've found that often helps, is to up arrow to the previous input
field or control, then tab back to the checkbox. Most of the time tab
will land you on the one that works.

Sometimes they use lists item for the various imput fileds, this is OK
for input fields, but for buttons and other controls it can create a
problem if both the list item and the control are selected, which won't
work, often attempts to activate the control are ignored because they go
to the list item instead. Tab will insure that only the control is
selected, which does work.

I checked appropriate boxes and passed - the third time around. A young

Let's figure you're in the inbox of one of your email addresses,
email A. Shift tab to the tree view (I employ the JAWS ribbon
option) through mailboxes to find your current email address. JAWS
will say your email address and announce open. Arrow to the left,
JAWS announcing email A closed. Arrow down and you should find your
second email address...assuming you've enabled it on Thunderbird.

Now reverse the process. Open your second email by arrowing to the
right and then arrowing down through the tree view. I find the
method I described faster than the easier way - (here it is)

From your email A in box press shift tab to the tree view. Arrow down
through your current email's boxes to your second email..then keep
arrowing down until you find the box you want and tab to it.

?Seems bit tricky but if you do it enough you'll get proficient.

Warning. If you tab a bit too far you might get something like
Welcome To Thunderbird. In that case just keep tabbing until you
hear your inbox and navigate from there.10/11/2016 10:23 AM, Tom wrote:

up from the in box and scroll to the other account. then go along the
ribbon to your in box or wherever you want to go.in the new email
address.

Alt T takes you to the tools menu. Arrow up to Account settings. Tap
the letter s. You should see your current and only email. Tab once to
a button menu. Tap the space bar and press enter on email account.
Follow the wizard.

Let's figure you're in the inbox of one of your email addresses, email
A. Shift tab to the tree view (I employ the JAWS ribbon option)
through mailboxes to find your current email address. JAWS will say
your email address and announce open. Arrow to the left, JAWS
announcing email A closed. Arrow down and you should find your second
email address...assuming you've enabled it on Thunderbird.

Now reverse the process. Open your second email by arrowing to the
right and then arrowing down through the tree view. I find the method
I described faster than the easier way - (here it is)

From your email A in box press shift tab to the tree view. Arrow down
through your current email's boxes to your second email..then keep
arrowing down until you find the box you want and tab to it.

?Seems bit tricky but if you do it enough you'll get proficient.

Warning. If you tab a bit too far you might get something like Welcome
To Thunderbird. In that case just keep tabbing until you hear your
inbox and navigate from there.10/11/2016 10:23 AM, Tom wrote:

Shift plus control plus f works too. You can format cells
individually. You can also use the applications key to format cells.
Are you wanting to format an entire worksheet? I have no answer for
that one.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Going to the top of a particular column in Excel

2016-10-06 Thread Jim Pursley
Control and up arrow moves you up the column - to the top most of the
time. Just repeat the move if you don't get to the top the first time
you use the key combination.

Hi list members,

I am wondering if there is a key command that will take you to the top of a

the cell of the top of the column, but I am just wondering if there is
another way to get there. The home key will take you to the beginning of the
row so I was wondering if there was something for the top.

If there is, I haven't ran across it yet and using the go to is not a
problem. I just thought I would ask. This is something that has crossed my
mind several times.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

I'd recommend only downloading "important" updates. Skip the
recommended updates. iI checked the option in the Windows Update
control panel to "Check for updates but let me install them".

Still all of this caution did not prevent the Get Windows 10 onslaught.
