I sort of understand it.
If Sinisterra cost £25m on a 5 year contract - that cost/value would be
split £5m per year.
So after the end of this season he'd be deemed to be worth £15m.
So if we sell him for £20m, then we'd be showing £5m profit for FFP
If we let him go for nothing - we'd have
I think Reverend Gav might be lurking on the digest still but my
understanding is he's finished saving the Midlands and is now sorting
out Scotland

To be fair to Klaasen he did actually save the chance in the 2nd half -
it hit him on the chest - the ref just didnt notice it and gave a
goal-kick.
Bamford definitely helped stretch the defence - and thus gave more room
to the wingers and Rutter - but not clear if it will work as well
I guess we try to argue that we'd have made different decisions if
Everton were either doing worse because they'd spend less money or had
been punished last season or the season before.
So basically we need to prove that Everton made us appoint Jesse Marsch
and buy Rasmus Kristiansen
Matt
I think we're a decent team - probably end up in the playoffs.
The front 4 plus subs are always going to be dangerous when they have
space to play in - so the challenge might be how to score goals at home
against packed defences.
That was Rutter's best game - not a £30m player but could
So we now have 5 right backs
Spence, Ayling, Drameh, Byram, Shackleton
and one (injured) left back - Firpo
This seems odd

It does all feel a bit Succession.
I suspect Radz isnt happy with the price the 49ers are offering post
relegation and so is making it known;
1) He could decide to stay
2) He might separate out control of the ground from the rest of the club
In order to push the 49ers into upping their
That plan would kind of make sense if we'd done the 2 banks of 4 -
denying the opposition space to play through us ploy.
Except we had 2 of the defenders providing the only width in the team -
a job Stuyjk especially is unsuited to and the usual huge wide open
spaces in our defence
Matt
Its not exactly Big Sam's fault we went down but he didnt really give us
a chance.
If you pick 6 defenders, the chances of you holding the ball upfront are
pretty remote especially if one of the forward players is Weston
McKennie.
If you cant hold onto the ball, you are going to be doing
I wasnt sure if it was a 2nd yellow or straight red - but both are one
game bans i think, so he could be back for Spurs.
I suspect he'll stay if we get relegated as well - there wont be any
market to sell him and we still dont have another left back unless they
think Hjellde can play there
I thought Bamford played well as well. He will play next game as he's
the only one we can aim for upfront in Allardyce's formation.
Think Big Sam should take some responsibility for the penalty - he's
quoted as saying something like;
"I just left it as it was, if Rodrigo had wanted to
Well i guess all the good he's done appointing Bielsa, finding Raphinha,
Kich, Meslier etc has been more than undone by appointing Marsch and
failing to get rid in November, then messing up the January window
BUT if its true that he objected to Kinnear trying to appoint Allardyce

There's 4 players i'd be happy to see in the team at the moment -
problem is they are all wingers.
I think we can cope upfront and centre-back if Wober and Bamford are fit
but we dont have a single full-back or midfielder available i have
confidence in at the moment.
We might be back to
Not Tim but i think Roca struggles in a 2 in midfield.
He can pass but lacks energy / mobility.
Jesse talked about playing 4-3-3 at the World Cup break but its never
really happened - Klich could have been the 10 - i think Roca will be
better in that formation. Still not convinced we'll
No 10 would appear to be the 'problem' position
At No.9 we have Rodrigo, Bamford, Rutter, Gelhardt - cant drop Rodrigo
at the moment
For wingers we have Gnonto, Harrison, Sinisterra, Summerville and i
think Rutter can play there as well
For No.10 an out of form Aaronson - who i think Jesse

And you've left out Sinisterra who i suspect is the best of all our

Given that Jesse seems to prefer Aaronson out wide, we've basically got
5 wide players for a team that tries to play everything through the
middle.
The best No.10 at the club was probably Klich but we've let him
On the plus side since the point Marsch looked certain to be sacked
we've taken 7 points from 5 games which was a brutal run of Liverpool /

Hi KOT
I dont think the defenders are necessarily bad.
We managed to finish 9th in 20-21 with the same 4 CBs - generally Cooper
playing with whichever of Koch or Llorente was fit - with Ayling and
Kalvin occasionally filling in.
Of the 4 i'd say;
Koch is plenty good enough and most
Roca played a couple of good balls that Bamford just failed to control
against Wolves
At the moment he seems to run out of energy in the 2nd half - so needs
to be swapped for Forshaw on 60 mins

Still slightly shocked that we survived. Cant be the only one shouting
at the tele, convinced that Burnley would equalise (they nearly did),
whilst we played it around in midfield vs 9 men.
Still a win makes it feel like we saved ourselves when in reality,
Burnley were a bit more inept than
2 of which were won in injury time - Norwich and Palace
Its amazing the crowd have stayed so loyal

Apparently we have won 4 league games at ER this
Desperate stuff
With each passing week i am less clear what we are trying to achieve
Four centre-backs started today with Rapha at right wing back just in
case that wasnt enough.
Koch managed to play centre-back, right back and right wing in the same
game. Even popped up at centre-forward
Due to the madness of the fixtures, Burnley play 4 times before we play
again. Norwich, West Ham, Southampton and Wolves.
So we'll have a game in hand of them at one point and know a lot more
about where we really stand when we start the tough run of games, Man
City, Arsenal and Chelsea
Agree with that Dave.
Felt like the spirit and attitude of a Bielsa team - decide some dubious
tactics
First half after Bamford went off - we had no-one to aim for and no-one
wide - so no options for midfield and defence, so kept losing the ball.
Second half after sending off - surely you
I pretty much agree with that. Am sad for 3 main reasons;
1. I think we are now more likely to go down. A new manager with no
experience of English football, taking over a group of players who
clearly love Bielsa is very risky. He practically has no different
options who to play - most
What evidence do we have that Bielsa is losing the players
The crowd as Elland Road seem to be firmly behind him - i'm not sure how
relevant the noise on social media is.
Yes i'm worried for the first time - largely due to the teams below
starting to win - but we wouldnt be better under any
I think the lack of midfielder is a bit weird - as the club have tried
to sign various of them Cuisance, O'Brien, Gallagher, Aaronson - and its
surprising they cant find anyone else.
Striker - not so bothered - if we buy another one, then Gelhardt has no
path to the team
No.10 - whatever we
The Rapha questions were annoying - you can see why Bielsa avoids doing
interviews in English - the translation aspect makes it easier to dodge
those questions.
Bielsa's tactics worked well.
Although he had virtually no choice on the team, i suspect most of us
would have had Koch at CB,
6 goals in 90th minute or later in 16 games
5 of which have changed the result of the match (West Ham, Wolves,
Palace, Brentford, Chelsea)
Its not good for the nerves

I think the game probably demonstrated how little we understand what
Bielsa is doing most of the time
Accepting this is based on twitter reaction and not that in the ground
The team at the start was largely met with approval by the fans - apart
from griping about Roberts - but most fans
I think Firpo has a bit of tendency to follow the ball once an attack
breaks down, which can lead him into some unexpected positions.
But having said that with the Bielsa man-marking system - just because a
gap appears that doesnt necessarily mean that the player in that
position is at fault
Firpo has got a bit of the Didier Domi's about him - in that he keeps
popping up in places (centre mid, right wing) where you dont expect him
to.
I think he'll be ok, between an injury / COVID and the team constantly
changing around him, he's not really had a consistent run.
Cresswell was
Of the youngsters Drameh looks more ready - so could play right back

Suspect Shack or Dallas at right back is more likely

I imagine after the first half yesterday which was just chaos, the
reaction in the dressing rooms was;
Ancelotti - We cant go on like this - we need to get a grip

And as ever Bielsa was correct - and Everton couldnt keep going at the
same intensity - and we took
I think Bielsa will stay, as his normal problem seems to be owners not
living upto promises and Radz seems to be on good terms with him but..
He is a retirement age bloke, who lives away from his family, through a
pandemic and is so intense he must be almost permanently mentally
exhausted.
Alternatively why would we.
I assume that Koch and Llorente are the long-term CB partnership in
Bielsa's mind - so why get someone else when they have never had the
opportunity to play with each other.
If you are assuming we are safe - we'd be buying someone for 4-5 games
until Llorente
I think Bielsa just loves wingers and cant have too many.
Costa looks improved this season, probably a combination of 2nd season
of Bielsa and more space to operate in. I think he will probably stay in
the team for a bit and the swapping of Roberts and Rodrigo is just a
matter of it not
Given Bielsa's contract negotiations tend to cover things like the tea lady's
trolley, i'd be amazed if he hasnt ensured that one of his favourite players is
looked after.
As to KOTs other question - there was some press this morning about RB
Leipzig's president saying they are preparing to
If we go up - we'll need to be realistic about what we can spend
£15m of the kitty has already been spent on Costa and another £18m will go on
