Roger,
Make sure that the 'mct_u232' module is loaded. This module supports the

Tommy,
I haven't seen anyone reply to this, so I'll chip in my suggestion based on my
limited knowledge of use of those modems.
Make sure you have the latest firmware for your Multi-Tech modem, then see the

Since you're using a recent kernel, I'm guess
compile to use '/dev/input/js0' since 'udev' was creating that device name
instead of '/dev/js0'). Once again, everything looks fine. All buttons and
axes are working and reporting as I'd expect.

Can anyone explain how such a simple USB device could start reporting a

happen? On what hardware? Only if Cruzer Mini is plugged in after booting?
(etc). But for now, at least you know you're not the only one seeing this
problem with the Sandisk Cruzer Mini.
Let me know if there's anything you'd like me to try.

Given this comment, it's no surprise that it doesn't work under Windows

For now, please let me know what kernel version ('uname -a') you're running.

Mostly, I'd just like to be sure that everything is configured properly for

Any information you can provide is much appreciated.

assert the 'CTS' signal (like my Garmin GPS-35 TracPak GPS receiver), but my
patches (which have been in the 2.4.x and 2.6.x kernels for several months

In case it matters, I run Slackware 9.1.
Good luck!

FWIW, for 'modutils' version, my system reports this:
$ modprobe -V
ottom Line: From my testing, I cannot see anything seriously wrong with
Slackware or the USB joystick handling, other than the minor inconvenience of
the 'joydev' module not auto-loading when the USB joystick is first plugged
in.

The only other thing I can think of is to use a newer kernel, but that's kind
of the "I'm otherwise out of ideas" recommendation! FWIW, 2.4.24 should still
be the latest as of this writing.
