DMP Availability
(this is dangerously close to spam, but I know there's a certain amount of interest here :) Just spoke to the local distributors about the availability of DMP in Europe. Here are the bullet points: * There are currently 100 copies in Europe. * Another (larger) shipment from Manning ended up in Singapore somehow! They will return at some point in the next week. * The large Charing Cross Road bookshops (Foyles, Blackwells, Waterstones) should all have 3 or 4 copies now. * Amazon had (we think) 10 copies. Don't know how many they've sold. * PC Bookshop were one of the unlucky stores whose supply went to Singapore. Check again in two weeks. * The person who told the PC Bookshop that it would be in stock in July was quoting from a very old list (July 2000 was the original planned release date). * I will hopefully have copies of DMP and OOP to give away on Monday night. GnuPG::Interface CGI
GnuPG::Interface seems to screw with CGI.pm, as it grabs stdin stdout through GnuPG::Handles. You end up getting repeated output in the browser. I don't suppose anyone else has combined the two, and even better come up with a solution? jp ps - these t-shirt suggestions are reminding me of harry enfield loadsamoney "shut your mouth and look at my wad" 80s shirts!

Someone brought up the possibility of the domain name london.pm. I wanted to know whether that was possible. .pm stands for St. Pierre et Miquelon, which belongs to France (if I'm not mistaken, that's two small islands off the coast of Canada), and AFNIC, the French NIC, is responsible for .pm. So I asked them whether it's possible to register a domain in .pm for non-residents, and got back the following answer: Le .pm n'est pas encore ouvert; nous ne connaissons pas encore les regles pour avoir un .pm mais il sera gere par l'AFNIC. L'AFNIC gere seulement le .fr pour le moment. Apparently, individuals are encouraged to register under .nom.fr since http://www.nic.fr/english/register/charter.html says .fr is for "French companies with SIREN/SIRET number". At the time, it was French government policy to not let their colonies use their TLDs and instead force them all to use .fr. That seems to have changed in the last few months. Don't start holding your breath just yet. I was causing some trouble over this very recently*. And with some success! Whilst AFNIC will continue to run the registry, they will be allowing registrations 'soon'.
