You have probably 256 colors (or even less) in your X, haven't you? Try
to run lyx with parametr -private.

You would be much better with minipages, probably. I know, that using
table is a second (bad?) habit from using other WYSIWYG programs, but
the minipages seems to be much more powerfull.
