wanting to change the way the figures are labelled. I have managed to
change the figure labelling from “Figure 1, Figure 2, Figure 3…” to
labelling per section “Figure 1.1, Figure 1.2, Figure 2.1…” Ho
figure labelling from “Figure 1, Figure 2, Figure 3…” to
labelling per section “Figure 1.1, Figure 1.2, Figure 2.1…” However, I
was wondering if there was a way to change it to say “Fig. 1.1”,
instead of “Figure 1.1”

need to inform I'm a polish user of LyX (Ubuntu OS) since I feel this
can have an impact on the way in which the problem can be solved. I will
not need to switch between LyX and OpenOffice Word Editor (for editing
of labels) if only I have the problem of labelling solved.

Sorry, I can't seem to replicate this problem. I have tried culling my
thesis to a reasonable size and it seems to work fine with the smaller
file. Even in my thesis it works sometimes, but not others.
It is possible that I have somewhere put a command that has stuffed up

this is a version running on a DEC-alpha under Tru64 Unix, so
it may be specific to Tru64. I haven't tested on all possible
