I am writing a Family History with the koma-book style. I have a master
document which is little more than a container for the chapters. Each
chapter is a separate Lyx file, a child of the master.
My problem is, that when I print the com
Trying to install Lyx from the Windows bundle, installing MikTex fails
because there is no German dictionary file. I don't need German, but I
can't unselect it. Very clever!
What do I do now?
The authors of aspell must be really parochial. To them, "English"
means "American", Canadian is a distinct language, and British English just
does not exist. There are dictionaries for languages with a smaller user
base than British English.

size pages, but B5 paper is not available in small quantities to practise on.
I find that if I write at system default (A4) then reduce it to B5 or A5, only

On a keyboard, they are the same character. If the code is HTML within your
PHP, perhaps you should be using a &***; symbol. Otherwise, I have never

1. Can I have endnotes for each chapter? That seems to have been
recommended. IMO, endnotes make the book more readable. In my case, that is
important. For a true reference work, I would certainly opt for footnotes,
because they are closer to the referring text.

I run Lyx, Lilypond and Frescobaldi. I still use Noteedit to write Lilypond
files, although development has stopped. I have no reason to import Lilypond
into Lyx, but under "Converters" I did notice that there are commands for
Noteedit and Lilypond files.
Frescobaldi no longer depends on Kate
