That feature makes it impossible to use a spare fuel jug to put fuel in the tank... You need a "special adaptor" that holds the flapper open while you put the fuel jug in the hole. FLAPS has the adaptors, pretty cheap... suggest one be added to the vehicle survival kit and kept in the car
