It's a double-ended squirrel cage fan in the recirculation path, not the little
propellor fan in the fresh air path.

It did. The factory AC has a knob with a green insert that you twist to turn on
the AC as I recall.

If it’s leak free keep it r12. If having to replace compressor etc probably
best to go 134. Done right 134 works fine.

If you have an original R12 system, keep it R12 or compatible. Do not charge it
with R134a.

Yes it started being integrated with the 116 for sure, and I think before that
in the 107. The 115 was added on after the fact with later models added at the
factory, but still not originally designed into it as evidenced by the funky 2
separate blowers.

It's only since 2019 when I got my 2015 Jetta TDI that we have all 3 vehicles
in the family having working AC...
