I remember a business trip to Wausau in January. I came out to warm my car up
in the morning, a 1992 Ford Escort wagon. It was so cold that the seat did not
compress when I sat down in it. I believe the ambient temperature was in the
range of -30F at the time.

I always like the bumper sticker that said, “Come Smell our Dairy Air”.

in the 70s, Wisconsin had a thin green tape like bumper sticker they
used to promote the state, primarily to FIBs in chicagoland. The

Who does not love summer in the North woods? The smell of pine trees
and cool nights and gorgeous days will plenty of lakes and rivers for

However in the north counties, they loved the bumper stickers for

Yoopers are probably the equivalent of Alaskans when it comes to
nutjobbery. To live in that rural of an area you’ve got to be a little
off kilter, I believe.

Bought our first house (in Indianapolis) from a guy and his new wife who
were going to run a hunting lodge 40 miles north of Manistique in the
Hiawatha National Forest. Logging roads were it for transportation, and
snowmobiles mandatory for winter travel.

The wife’s daughter was friends with my secretary’s daughter. Word was

PEI makes blueberry wine, among other varieties.

So does three lakes winery in WI,
http://www.cranberrywine.com/

I like American Wild, from La Vida Loca Not a fruit wine, but not a
domestic grape wine either. (actually, I like a lot of their
stuff...)

http://www.lavidalocawinery.com/

Eagles landing has 3 "Best of" winners at this year's state fair. I
really like their Volga Lake Blush under the Marquette label. Very
nice flavor. Decent price too. Their Serenety and Blackberry are
the other two "Best of" varieties from the state fair.

http://www.eagleslandingwinery.com/ourwines.html

These wineries go head to head with CA or NY and hold their own. The
Wine Institute at ISU has a lot to do with that.

Maiden Head Winery (WI) is also a Cidery I had a bottle of their
Honeycrisp cyder recently, and it was good a year after I bought it.
