I tried to hand-crank a 8 hp Yanmar (Cape Dory 27) and 12 hp Volvo (Columbia 8.7). No success with either although I was ill-positioned with the engine low in the bilge. It may have been possible with more adrenalin and a second person to trip the compression release at just the right time.
