[NTG-context] Several questions about format generation
Hi all, in the diverse documentation about ConTeXt installation I find the instruction texexec --make ... --language ... for generating format files. Several questions arise: 1. What is the consequence of selecting specific languages after the --make option? Have the generated formats the same functionality, i.e. do they differ only in the user interface? In particular, do the different formats have the same hyphenation capabilities? 2. In the How to install ConTeXt manual I read that the nl-format is needed for some postprocessing features built in texexec. Is this still valid? The TeXLive distribution of 2004 contains only the cont-en.fmt file. 3. Is using the --language xy option equivalent to the using the \mainlanguage[xy] macro? 4. In case that several format files exist: which one is selected by texexec? [NTG-context] Strange interaction of \chapter and \AutoDroppedCaps
Hi,

I get output attached in gif file. It works fine without \chapter before. Any
thoughts?

[NTG-context] Unconventional page number placement

If there is a documented way to do what I want, feel free to just give me a hint as to where it is documented; or if there is no way to do it without deep hackery, please just let me know that. Thanks! %% I am creating a layout for electronic books in which all the body text is in a single, fairly narrow column, with minimal space at the top and bottom of each page. I would like to place page numbers in the left margin, aligned with the bottom of the text, and the running heads (if any) also in the left margin, aligned with the top of the text. Is there a way to do this in ConTeXt? I can see that the standard page numbering and header commands don't support this kind of placement. I can come very close to the desired effect with the following: * Place the page numbers in the margin area of the footer, e.g.: \setuppagenumbering [...,location=inleft] * Place the header text in the margin area of the header, e.g.: \setupheadertext [margin] [section] [] * Use negative dimensions to cause the header and footer to overlap the text area, e.g.: \setuplayout [...,headerdistance=-0.35in,footerdistance=-0.5in] As I said, this comes very close to the desired effect, but it seems impossible to correctly align the header text and page numbers with the main text. Also, the header texts are mostly too long to fit on a single line in the margin, and I have not found a way to induce line wrapping. You had it pretty much right, you just need to make sure that the text
blocks reach the bottom, a la the grid or \setupalign[line] stuff on the
list these past weeks.
Actually, at first, I thought this was a job for texttexts (weird, yeah,
but in the manual...), but I have not idea how to move those up and down,
where you want them.
And that rightedge block isn't really relevant here, but it looks nice on
the page. :)

[NTG-context] looking for a grammar checker in linux/tex/context - or alternative
Some time ago I asked for a speller in linux. I found that aspell does a good job. Now I want one step up: a grammar checker. Since there is no such thing in linux (AFAIK), then my question is: Is there any way to ask context to output the file in a format importable by MS Office? (sorry, I don't like this solution, but if you have one within the realm of linux/gnu licenses, let me know). May be plain 'text' format, or rtf? So I can use the grammar in MS. Thanks for your explanations. My goal is, to write things like
\useencoding[ffr] and \mainlanguage[fr] only once in an environment file,
and not in every product.
What do you think about the following method, can I get other kinds of
