There is a bright adult Red-headed Woodpecker on Hunter Island in Pelham Bay
Park in the Bronx.
First spotted by Brendan Keogh and myself on Monday, we relocated it again this
morning.

I re-found the Barrow’s Goldeneye first located by Ricard Aracil off Orchard
Beach yesterday, swimming with some Common Goldeneye. There were also a few
Surf Scoter mixed in with a large raft of Greater Scaup.
As of yesterday, the Pileated Woodpecker remains on Hunter Island.

On the Bronx-Westchester CBC today, “Bronx” Brendan, Mike Russo and Glen Davis
found a Snowy Owl in Soundview Park in the South Bronx.

Chestnut-sided, a Yellow down
at the Point. We also had a single Northern Waterthrush, a Black and White and
a Red-eyed Vireo.

The Plumb Beach, Brooklyn Baird's was refound by Richard Aracil about 30 min
ago, west of the parking lot, not far from the breakwater. It was pretty far up
on the second line of rack on the beach.

Brendan Keogh, aka Bronx Brendan, found an active Cliff Swallow nest at Orchard
Beach. I don’t ever remember seeing one in this area. I’m curious to know if
any others have been reported in the NYC area.

Gulls.
Of note was an Eastern Bluebird, the first I’ve seen here in years. Just as I
left the lookout where I scoped the ducks, it flew out and landed nearby.

Many of the usual winter species were around: Juncos, Titmouse, Chickadees, WB
Nuthatch, Red-tailed Hawks, Savannah, Song and Tree Sparrows, RC Kinglet, Brown
Creepers, Turkey Vultures and Cedar Waxwings.
On the water we could only find Bufflehead.
