You're correct. The penalty alerts do not display in the patron sidebar on the
search results screen when you are first searching for a patron. The alert
message on the patron record does appear as does

You're right Terran. I was testing it with the mailing address and did
not notice that 'Mailing' header turns red.

alert you in the left-hand summary column. It turns out such an alert will
appear, but only if you go into the patron record and then press the Back
button on the PC. Has anyone else seen this?
