Hi,
You can monitor the milestones which the team use for tracking issues to be
fixed for the next release:
https://github.com/osmandapp/Osmand/milestone/9
This milestone is due today, so either it will slip a bit (most likely) or
some of the issues will be moved to the next milestone.
You need to install the contour lines plugin from Google Play on your new
phone.
Then restart OsmAnd (swipe it away in the recent app list, and then open it
again).
Then go to Settings -> Configure Map and make sure Contour Lines and
Hillshade layer are enabled.

I think this is a known issue and it's caused by switching between the
world base / overview map (at low zoom levels) and detailed maps (at higher
zoom levels).

I thought this feature was added in 2.9, not 2.8, but it can be disabled:
Settings -> General settings -> Full screen mode.

In principle you absolutely do not need to root your phone to use an SD
card with OsmAnd on Android 5.x.
I used OsmAnd on Android 5.x with all my map data and favourites stored on
the SD card.
As of Android 5.x, apps can read and write to their own directory on the SD
card. On your SD card,

Hi,
If you've activated the trip recording plugin you're half way there already.
Select "Configure screen" from the main menu, and enable the "GPX logging"
widget.
You should now have a "GPX" button at the top-right of your window. Press
it to start recording. The icon will turn red. Press it
For point 3, you should get a prompt to open any GPX file you download in
any app with OsmAnd. You can then import it, and the track will appear in
My Tracks tab in My Places.

There's a problem in some Android versions where application data stored on
the SD card is reported as internal storage.
You can see if this bug affects your phone by unmounting the SD card and
then seeing how much internal space Android reports OsmAnd is using. Most
likely the "internal"

Hi,
I don't want to speak for the developers, but I'm sure you're welcome to
use the app. The Red Cross have used it extensively in West Africa and
mapped over 600 km of missing roads as a result.
If you want to use updated maps, generate an extract for the area you're

Hi Paul,
As David says, OsmAnd can display GPX tracks and routes using a colour
specified in the GPX file itself.
This is useful as you don't need to keep selecting your desired colour when
you display the file in OsmAnd.
To do this:
1. Open a GPX file in a text editor (such as Notepad) on

Hi,
I just installed 2.5.3 and notice that the old search has been completely
removed, so it looks like the online Nominatim search is gone too.
Is it definitely gone, or is there some other way of accessing it?

Hi,
I think the online maps plugin has to be enabled. Once this is enabled, go
to Search, POI tab and then start typing your search. Then tap "Online
Nominatim - Places" or "Online Nominatim - Addresses".
"Search by name" is also useful, particularly when offline.
