When adding users directly to a site / list / document etc, it asks you
what permissions they should have, and then has the send a welcome
email with the checkbox ticked.
Is there an easy way to

We had the same issue. It had something to do with credentials not being
passed through to the proxy server, irrespective of what settings you
use.
What we did was to specifically allow certain URL's through the proxy
without needing authentication.

I've noticed in our environment, sometimes you need to go into the form
library settings, set it to open in client app and then change it back
to open in web browser. Also ensure that the URL in the email is the
full URL, and not chopped off
you had to manually add
updated docs to the appropriate libraries. time consuming I know.
