The crosses are JUST wooden crosses, which may be why they look like
cardboard. This is not a cemetery, Ann, it is a hill covered with crosses to
mark the dead soldiers in Iraq (and now Afghanistan). I showed it before,

Here's a wider shot (that taken with the Optio, I think is a little too
blurry) that shows more of what it is.

I can never bring myself to photograph cemetaries... heavy stuff, Marnie.
The odd thing to me is how cardboardy the strong light makes the
gravemarkers look...
Is this a cemetary for the impoverished?

I like the way the light recedes. A tighter crop with less foreground might

Thanks Marnie and JOhn both for the explaination... I had no idea. jsut
that it brought up for me visions of Flanders Fields and a cemetary in
the Manilla where my brother is buried ... and even an old burial ground
in Maine... I find all of it too difficult to look at.

Marnie so liked my previous photo post I thought I'd redeem myself with another

O! Austin Healeys are among my favourite classic sports cars. The Big
Healeys are among the most handsome cars ever (I don't know why but handsome
is the right adjective). And I know I've mentioned it here before but the
Bugeye Sprite is my favourite car ever.
Lovely photo. Guessing it's
Pleasingly unique, Christine. Surprises me, but I like it.
