This is a shot in the dark with the disclaimer that I'm a Windows guy,
not a Mac guy. But...Knoppix has saved my bacon several times when a
hard drive wasn't recognized by computer's OS. I was able to mount the
defective drive and copy the data to a new drive with no problems. It

I have a wireless router but the PC is hardwired to the router. The
router goes between the modem (Cable Modem) and the computer. Does
that still provide that extra level of protection?

A correct colour profile is determined by more factors than monitor
alone. Video card and OS has impact too, so I would try to get a new
calibration tool if your old one doesnt support Vista.

I use AVG I think it's up to version 8.5. Free for personal use. There
may be better packages out there now, but hell, it's free.
