down a bit 10% or so. Given that one can get a new 77 limited f1.7
for under $800 any opinions on the choice ?

The current price for the 77 ltd is actually $660 at BH probably about
the same at any other reputable retail location. Now I personally like
the 77mm for digital but it fulfills the role that a 100~105mm lens had
with 35mm film, and the 85mm now fulfills the ~135mm role. Thats a much

Scott,
I think so...
The screw mount 55/1.8 SMC-Takumar was the standard lens for the last
Spotmatics.
The K55/1.8 was introduced with the KM, KX, K2 as the standard lens.
Only later did the K50/1.7 appear.
In fact, there is a whole line of SMC knock-offs.

I was planning on ordering some clone batteries, but with two Pentax
batteries -- one in the camera and one in the grip-- I haven't been
able to exhaust them. I've tried: more than 1500 frames without
recharging. I carry four lithiums for backup, but haven't had to use
them.
