Another approach:
A4 is standard in Europe, and is almost 8 x 12 in. (8.27 x 11.69, to be exact).
BH sells A3 paper, which is twice the size of A4; so I just cut an A3 sheet in
half.

Birth is a pretty joyous event for most couples, but...
It's also rather graphic and bloody.
I made my first son's photos pretty and cleaned up and happy.
I made the second son's photos more realistic over my wifes objections.
You'll have to think about what you want.

In general, that's the way paper works. If you have a size like A4,
I don't worry too much what other people do or say about what aspect
ratio a photograph ought to be.
- For my personal work, I shoot what I like and size the photos per my
own desires and aesthetic decisions.
- When I'm shooting for a client, I ask them what size and shape they
want the products
