JPEG within the camera, using the camera firm/software, as opposed to
being shot in JPEG or converted to JPEG in editing software like

I can't offer advice beyond what you've gotten. I'll just add that for
some reason the combination of my DA 14 and BW polarizer tend to bind.
I now carry a filter remover, and try to remember not to tighten the
filter in. Bit of a nuisance.

Not so. I've seen the results when using black tape. The resultant
photos always appear sharper and better focused. This is because black
tape absorbs stray light rays and ill-behaved photons. The tape, when
properly applied, can also hold camera doors shut, secure loose and
wobbly lenses,

I'm back from a few days in Italy--Milan, Venice, Porto Venere. The trip
was mainly for a conference in Porto Venere, so there was only a little
chance for photography. Because of this I took only a minimal kit--*ist
D, DA 21, DA 40, and A 50 F1.2. The DA 21 got a workout, and proved

You're travelling sept 8th? I'd consider buying a Pelican
case a few days before you travel if the ban is not lifted - you'll have
to check *everything* photographic. Sad but true, and necessary.

That's a possibility. Trouble is, I would have to ship it unlocked. I

Me too. I suspect that much of the overreaction is CYA. No official
wants to be the one who did too little. No politician wants
The Transportation Security Administration has not yet updated its web
site today. I heard on a news report, though, that electronic devices
are not allowed in carry-on bags on flights from the U.S. to and from
any location in Europe, or with connections anywhere in Europe -- not
just England.
I ended up buying the Sigma tonight. It just suited my needs.
