Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SuperDateTime - Current Date/Temperature and/or Baseball Screensaver

2021-03-06 Thread MichaelPr

Hi together,

first of all - thanks for the great work on this plugin - I've just a
small issue that I cannot solve. The "Sun" Icon i the Menu "Extras". It
appears within Squeezer but using Jive/Jivelite directly on a Radios/
Raspberry with pCP the is only a black/blanc square. Does anyone know
what I'm doing wrong.

Btw, at the risk that it has already been discussed umpteen times here
in the forum, how do I get "weather radar map" as a full screen when I
click on it.

Best Regards
Michael

Is there any possibility to make this a configuration item so that I
don't need to keep editing the code with each update? Thanks

Thanks, I've added that repository and picked up that I need to enable
Custom Clock Helper but I still see nothing on my SBT. There are also
errors in the LMS log, maybe due to HTTPS vs HTTP. I'm running on
Synology, if that makes any difference.

I'll wait for BoomX2 to post the new version and start the new thread
before I do any more digging.

I don't why it would take so long with my setup; a dual core Intel(R)

@bluetdi
It looks like success from your screen shots. I can take care of
changing the URL in SDT to http. I'll also update the URL to include
the language based on the selection in the Language field in the
Advanced->SDT settings page.

Please send me or post your CCH file. I like it and might make use of
it on my setup. It will also give me clues to what I need to change in
SDT to make radar maps easier for other users to access. I'll also look
back at what @tcutting did with the wunderground version of SDT. Thanks
for the tip.

I do not know what options are available for retrieving different views
of the maps. I did play around with "zoom" levels as you did. I do
not have a document or link to refer you to. If you discover anything
from your trials please pass them along.

Got it working, at least with CCH for the SDT screens.

3005630057300583005930060

Dont be confused by the weather data, they are for a different place
than the map. But I needed a map with rain.

On the left side of the screen their are 5 sequences, each shown 15
seconds. The last is the radar map, then starting again with the album
cover. The map must be at least 400x400px to be retrieved and the url
must be put into an 'imageicon' item. It will be handled like other urls
in the clock style.

@BoomX2
Had no succes in changing the url to http in the plugin, the menu still
shows no map.

Are their options for retrieving different views of the map? I tried
lod=z with different values of z to show a greater area and it works
fine. Also the language of the underlying map can be changed to german.

Do you have a link to approriate document?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SuperDateTime - Current Date/Temperature and/or Baseball Screensaver

2020-04-14 Thread bluetdi

Thank you.

I tried this url 'Radar map'
(http://api.weather.com/v2/maps/dynamic?geocode=48.0,16.5=600=800=7=radarFcst=light=jpg=en=d522aa97197fd864d36b418f39ebb323)
in Firefox and got a map in return. Fine.
Then pasted it with CCH in a new screen called Radar with just one item
'imageicon' and ... nothing.
But I remembered that https calls are not working so changed it to a
http call. The result was

30048

At least a map can be shown with SDT on a screen. That was also possible
with the Weatherground Api-key. I dont know if it will be dynamically
updated so will watch it. Further experimenting will be needed.

The easiest way to get the URL for your specific location is to set SDT
logging to the Info level. Then touch the Advanced->SDT settings.
Simply clicking "Apply" is enough. After a few seconds SDT recalculates
your latitude and longitude and derives the Weather Radar URL. All 3
are recorded in the server log file.

For instance:

Code:

  [20-04-13 16:30:54.3842] Plugins::SuperDateTime::Plugin::getLatLong (2772)

Note: The lat and long values in the geocode entry in the URL have a

lack of time. I still need to investigate how to display pictures on
the Touch and Radio.

So far it only shows the icon size pic in the Extras -> SDT menu.
Selecting the weather radar menu just bumps the screen. In the android
app Orange Squeeze, the menu structure continues on to display the full
size radar picture.

I would also like to make the radar image available to Custom Clock, but
have not looked into that yet. I suspect Custom Clock Helper may need
to be tweaked.

If anyone has advice, input, or has weather radar working on their copy
of SDT... I'm happy to incorporate it the distribution I have been
supporting.

I can't be certain, but I'm not aware of any other repositories for SDT.

Nice catch. I'll roll your patch into a future release. I'll also look
into starting new thread for that release.

I'm glad that worked for you. I'll look at adding error checking for

College Football is also hanging. I recommend removing all sports teams
from SDT advanced settings since the COVID 19 pandemic has all these
sports shutdown for the time being.

It's under the Advanced tab. Then select "Logging" from the pull down
list. Scroll down to "(plugin.superdatetime) - SuperDateTime
Screensaver" and change the entry to either Info or Debug. Info should
be adequate to figure out where it is hanging.

I just did some checking and expect that you have one or more teams
entered for College Basketball. The URL that SDT pulls game data from
is not returning valid JSON data causing the plugin to hang. Likely
since NCAA cancelled the rest of the season. If you remove the teams
from College Basketball, SDT should start showing weather data again.

Hello,

My SuperDateTime Screensaver v5.9.57 has started to only show the
day/time and Weather.com logo for the last few days.
No weather format strings or sports info are displaying.
The server is throwing the error below. It looks like something is

It should be included in the primary list of plugins so you shouldn't
need to add a repository. With that said you can add this repository
that also has the Custom Clock Helper plugin.

Code:

http://erland.github.io/squeezebox-downloads/repositories/latest.xml

If you are using LMS 8 you will likely need to load 7.9.3 or earlier to
see the CustomClockHelper in the list of available plugins. I noticed
the repo XML file has the max target set to 7.*

Code:

Did you succeed loading the Custom Clock applet on your Radio and/or
Touch? The CustomClockHelper plugin is of no use with the CustomClock
applet.

For Touch and Radio players you need to load the Custom Clock applet.
Then add the Custom Clock Helper plugin.

When SDT starts it waits 90 seconds and then looks for players like your
Touch and receiver that don't trigger SDT to refresh as a legacy player
does. The same check for attached players is done whenever you enter
the Extras>SuperDateTime menu. Usually 90 seconds is plenty of time for
the LMS server to come up and detect the attached players.

If your players are not powered up before your server is powered on this
will cause what you are seeing. If the players are powered up first, it
would appear your server is taking longer than expected before players
can be detected. What are you running LMS on?

If you want to see if a longer delay before checking for players will
help, you can edit line 2149 of the plugin.pm file (shown below) by
increasing the 90 to a larger number.

Code:

Slim::Utils::Timers::setTimer(undef, Time::HiRes::time() + 90,
\);

Having installed SuperDateTime and the Custom Clock App it seems that I
have to force a refresh via Extras>SuperDateTime after I restart my
server. If I don't do that then the weather data is blank in Custom
Clock.

2020-02-05 Thread EEYORE

BoomX2,

I just happened to visit the BETA forum and found some interesting
information. Some users were having problems with Tidal, and some other
addons, with the newer versions of LMS8; the same nightlies that have
been causing me problems. Michael Herger suggested that they check the
box for "Insecure HTTPS" in Settings/Advanced/Security and it cured
their problems. I tried it with the latest LMS8 nightly and no longer
show the "?" and all of my other display items are back! I will continue
to use the latest LMS8 nightlies until something else happens to make
LMS8 unworkable.

Thanks again,

EEYORE

Or, if I am really forced to, I could use LMS7.9.

It looks like those versions of LMS have an issue of making connections
to the web. Although most of the log entries are related to SDT not
being able to make a HTTP connection to download the data, there are
also some non-SDT related entries showing the same problem. For
instance it could not connect to repos.squeezecommunity.org or
www.mysqueezebox.com either.

I would recommend sticking with the 7.9.3 nightly versions of LMS as
they are more stable, but still get most of Michael's latest updates.
If you do want to stick with 8.0 LMS you will likely have to deal with
issues like this from time to time.

Check your server.log file. The ? is an indication that SDT had
difficulty either retrieving data or decoding it. The log file should
have entries providing a clue of what it is having trouble with.

I thank you for your last update of SDT. However, MH has done another
update of version 8 which has upset SDT. Many of my display items are
gone and I am getting the ominous '?' on my display. Is this a problem
with SDT or MHs last update?

Very much appreciated, if it will be visible on the Pi with 7“-screen
also.
I can see it in the Extras-menu already, but there is no content -
naturally.
With the Wunderground-Api a radar map was really fun on the big
Pi-screen but these times are gone.
Can not give any guidance though, hope you have success. If you need
testing I will volunteer happily.

This release bumps maxVersion to 8.* for those users wanting to load SDT
on the latest LMS Alpha.

The Weather Radar Map for your weather.com location has also been added.
This is preliminary and is currently only available under the
Extras->SDT menu on certain interfaces such as Orange Squeeze. In a
future release I plan to make it visible to Custom Clock Helper and
improve display through the Touch and Radio menus. That is when or if I
can figure out how to do this. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Mr Herger,

As I mentioned earlier to Paul I am not savvy with software. When I did
a search I found 20-30 different install.xml files in different LMS
sub-directories and one in an SDT sub-directory. Is it the SDT file? Is
it the line that indicates maxversion>7. and should it just be changed
to maxversion>8. ?

I could stick with an earlier version of LMS but for many years now I
have been installing the latest nightly version when it is released and
have never had a problem that I can remember. Especially since my needs
from LMS are very basic. And what fun would life be without taking
chances?

Thanks,

EEYORE

The only update required today would be bumping the maxVersion string in
the install.xml file. None of the changes so far should be breaking
backwards compatibility.

I would Stick with 7.9.2.

That's the safest place for sure. 8.0 really is for the brave and Spotty

Paul,

I saw that thread, checked out Putty and WinSCP, but have no idea how to
use them. I can build a computer but I have never been good with
software; Autocad, Solidworks and various pcb layout programs were
difficult enough to learn for my job as a drafter and electro-mechanical
designer. And I am in my mid 70s with a failing memory and shaky hands
so I even have problems assembling computers now.

Thanks again,

Paul,

I looked around but did not find anything on SDT. And even then, not
being computer savvy, I might not be able to use anything that I might
find. I will have to wait for BoomX2 to do his thing on SDT since LMS 8
is working for me even though I am stuck with "Date/Time" on my screen.

And what fun would it be to stick with known working programs ;)?

Thanks for the reply,

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SuperDateTime - Current Date/Temperature and/or Baseball Screensaver

2020-01-16 Thread EEYORE

To all,

I installed the new nightly release of LMS 8 but found that SDT is not
supported. SDT is not offered as an option in "Player/Basic Setting" and
"Plugins" shows SDT unchecked with a message indicating that the current
SDT is not compatible with the new LMS version. Original Date/Time
plugin is still working.

Any one else with this problem?

Closing the loop on this...I had to do a couple things. First, I had to
go the Touch settings to display the "hidden" menu items. That brought
up the Extras setting menu that was previously not visible. Then I had
to reinstall the Custom Clock applet as it had been torpedoed during the
firmware update. After those steps SDT was visible in the screensaver
menu.

Thanks for the help!

Cool, thanks. I've got all the Custom Clock and weather settings set up
from when it was working previous to the updates. I didn't look under
"Extras" on the Touch; I'll do that when I'm back home.

Thanks for the help.

On the Touch look for SDT under the Extras menu. You should find it
there. To show SDT data on screensavers with the Touch or Radio you
will need to use the Custom Clock app and Custom Clock Helper plugin.

For players like the Boom, Classic, Transporter you only need SDT and
can setup the screensaver preferences under the LMS Player tab.

Settings for weather location etc are set under ther LMS Advanced tab.

Hope this helps you get going again.

OK, dumb question time. I'm a long-time SDT user, but now I suddenly
can't figure out how to enable it. I just did an update to both the LMS
software (v 7.7.6) and to the Touch software. On the Touch there is now
no option for SuperDateTime in the screen saver section. SDT is enabled
on the server plugin list and the settings there are as they were prior
to the server software update. I just don't know what to do to make it
an option on the Touch. What am I missing?

Thanks!

Thanks - somewhere along the line the identifier got changed. Perhaps
when I moved LMS to a different PC. All is good now.

The SDT plugin defaults to 60614:4:US if the weather.com identifier is
blank or not in the correct format. See code below. It is possibly the
weather.com station identifier was inadvertently altered when making
another setting change to SDT.

Code:

  # Get previous settings or set default
  if ($prefs->get('city') !~ /.+\:\d\:\D\D/) { # Check for proper weather.com
citycode format
  $log->error("Check your Weather.com Identifier. Your entry = " .
$prefs->get('city'));
  $prefs->set('city','60614:4:US'); #Default to Chicago... cuz Chicago is where
it's at!
  $log->error("Defaulting identifier to Chicago: " . $prefs->get('city'));
  }

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SuperDateTime - Current Date/Temperature and/or Baseball Screensaver

2019-10-30 Thread phred

On both my Touch and my Radio, the current weather from SuperDateTime
v5.9.56 hasn't changed since late yesterday afternoon. It's showing the
same temperature now as it did last night. And the temp has definitely
changed. Also the next four day's forecasts are very different than what
I'm seeing on the weather.com website.

I have power-cycled both devices. I have stopped and restarted LMS. I
have rebooted the Win10 machine where LMS lives. No changes in current
temp, nor the forecasts.

It's almost like weather.com has changed the identifier. Or weather.com
isn't transmitting any new data. Despite the fact that their site shows
data that is closer to reality.

Looking in the server log starting on Oct 26, I see this:
[19-10-26 18:56:05.9408] Plugins::SuperDateTime::Plugin::gotWeatherNow
(3549) Unknown Barometer Trend Status!!! Code = 4
[19-10-26 18:56:05.9410] Plugins::SuperDateTime::Plugin::gotWeatherNow
(3550) Barometer Trend Description = Falling Rapidly
[19-10-26 19:11:36.9706] Plugins::SuperDateTime::Plugin::gotWeatherNow
(3549) Unknown Barometer Trend Status!!! Code = 4
[19-10-26 19:11:36.9709] Plugins::SuperDateTime::Plugin::gotWeatherNow
(3550) Barometer Trend Description = Falling Rapidly
[19-10-27 04:35:22.8107] Plugins::SuperDateTime::Plugin::gotWeatherNow
(3546) BaroTrend Code = 3 Baro Trend Description: Rising Rapidly

And that last line repeats until 08:00 on Oct 27.
The only more recent entry is when I stopped and restarted LMS today.

So my questions are these:
1- where can I find/confirm the weather.com identifier?
2- what is going on here?

Thanks.

I, like many others, made the switch to the weather.com version quite
some time ago. And it has been, and continues to work well. However, I
looked at the server log today and see this error which appears hundreds

Can someone suggest why it's still reaching out to WU and the WU version

I have released 5.9.55 that corrects the "stuckMonitor" bug I introduced
in 5.9.54. Systems that only have Touch and/or Radio players will now
refresh data at the interval specified on the SDT settings page. For
slow booting systems I extended the delay to 90 seconds before SDT will
attempt to be detect Radio and Touch players and data will start
refreshing.

Code:

# 5.9.55 09/03/19 Removed bug introduced in 5.9.54 that prevented systems
with only Radio/Touch
  # players from refreshing data more than once.
  #

Use PuTTY to remotely connect and copy files to your NAS:

For some days, the data is no longer updated, so I have to switch the
SBT off and on to get new data. It seems that the interval to reload the
data does not work. Could it may be the version 5.9.54? If yes, how can
I go back to the previous version?

I too have had the same symptoms: When I initially set my Touch and
Radio to pick up the forecast, it is correct, but it never refreshes. I
have not changed anything on my server.

What I can see in the CustomClockHelper log (set to debug mode) is that
it seems to always wait for something to refresh :

custom items:
[19-08-25 13:11:24.4182]
Plugins::CustomClockHelper::Plugin::refreshCustomItems (186) Nothing to
refresh, scheduling next refresh...

I have these two lines showing up every 10 seconds for hours now...

I'm sending the zip logs file in PM. I've set the logging to debug mode.
As far as I can see in these logs I don't think there is anything
relevant in it...

For your records I've been using this plugin for years now, first with
the wunderground data and now with the weather.com data. Everything was
working perfectly until a few days/weeks ago. Maybe the issue is more on
the customclockhelper plugin side than in the sdt plugin itself ?

Thanks for helping me

Nothing obvious there. Go ahead and bump the logging for SDT up to
DEBUG. Then post or PM me the zip file of the server log after the

The stuck monitor is a timer that is twice as long as your refresh rate
(default 5 minutes). If something hangs up it forces another refresh and
records an entry in the log. The lines before the stuck monitor line
should give some detail of the problem. Post several lines from your
server log before the stuck monitor line. That will help me sort out
what is going on.

Hello.
I've got exactly the same issue here. Player count = 0 before entering
extra>sdt screen. My setup is the same: lms running on Synology NAS ans
several radios and touch running customclockhelper and sdt plugins.
This is no big deal (I don't reboot server very often) but I have
another issue. Data on my screen savers do not refresh automatically.
Data are displayed but stay the same as long as I don't activate the
radio.
I can see in the logs that every 10 minutes there is a "stuck monitor"
(4234) issue. I'm guessing that this explains the data not being
refreshed on the screen.
Any clue of what I could do to fix this issue ?
Thanks a lot for your help and the great job done with these plugins.

OK, thank you very much, but it is really not a big issue, I do not
restart the server very often.
Well, thank you anyway!

Thanks for posting your server log info. It helps me understand what is
going on.

The issue appears to be related to how long it is taking your system to
boot up. I expect the following 2 lines to be only a few seconds apart.
Instead they are about 2.5 minutes apart.
[19-08-12 14:56:34.6053] Plugins::SuperDateTime::Plugin::getLatLong
(2737) async request:…
[19-08-12 14:59:00.4263] Plugins::SuperDateTime::Plugin::gotLatLong

The first time SDT looks for how many players you have in your system it
isn't finding any. Likely because it is not completely booted at this
point. These 2 lines should have shown 4 players and 0 with SDT active.

[19-08-12 14:58:56.2568] Plugins::SuperDateTime::Plugin::duetCheck
(2261) Player count: 0
[19-08-12 14:58:56.2742] Plugins::SuperDateTime::Plugin::duetCheck
(2262) Count of players with SDT active: 0

The same code is run when you later triggered SDT to look for players
again by entering the Extras/SuperDateTime menu. Then it found your 3
Touch players (type=fab4) and 1 Radio (type=baby).
[19-08-12 15:00:25.4954] Plugins::SuperDateTime::Plugin::duetCheck
(2261) Player count: 4
[19-08-12 15:00:25.4959] Plugins::SuperDateTime::Plugin::duetCheck
(2262) Count of players with SDT active: 0

I'll see what I can do in a future release to make SDT more tolerant of
slow booting systems with only Touch or Radio players.

Try SDT version 5.9.54 and see if it resolves the problem you have of
weather data not updating after a server restart. If the problem still
exists, turn logging for SDT up to "Info". Make sure and check the box
"Save logging settings for use at next application restart" on the
advanced->logging settings page. Restart your server, wait at least 15
seconds after the server is completely back up and running. Then
trigger SDT by entering the Extras/SuperDateTime menu. Wait until
weather data/icons are updated and displayed. Send me the server log
entries from the server restart to the end.

@M_Meyer, @Pommes,
If you wait 75 seconds does SDT start updating in your system?

Upon initialization there is currently a 75 second delay before SDT will
start getting data if there are no players with legacy graphical
displays. (i.e. SB3 Classic, Boom, Transporter) Entering the
Extras->SDT menu eliminates the delay. I can reduce or eliminate the
delay in the next release if this is what you are experiencing.
