Well, well.  I never knew that.  I don't use any of the standard Custom
Browse menus, so never looked at the settings :-)

Thanks PasTim for your responses, I think I will wait and see if Erland
releases his plugins for LMS 8. This may be wishful thinking though.
Other than the issue I had they seem to work fine.

plugin works properly under LMS 8.  If it worked OK under 7.9.3/4 it's

I have no problem with the majority of Erland's plugins on LMS 8.
I use multi library to split into FLAC vs MP3 libraries. When I use
custom browse to select by album, if I choose an album and then a
specific track in that album it plays the whole album

I have used custom browse for years, normally playing individual tracks
or sets of tracks, rarely a whole album.

I what way have you set up LMS to play only selected songs?  Isn't that
what it always does unless you play the whole album deliberately?

I see you are on LMS 8.0.  I am not aware that Erland's plugins have
been tested on 8, and they may not work properly.  Last I read he had
not had time to do the work that may be required.

You need to save the preferences folder and content and replace the new
one with that. You also need to set permissions and ownership on that
folder the same as the one you replace. One last thing is when you copy
over a server.prefs file, make sure you remove the server_uuid value
before starting up the new instance, as it mightconfuse your players.

Pinkdot, 
and manuell installation of 7.9.2 gives me the errror: 
cannot roll back to older version 7.9.2.
Yesterday i uninstalled it, but lost all settings, plugins etc.
Is there a way to switch versions, without loosing all settings, plugins
etc.?

I found downgrading to 7.9.3 installing plugins and then upgrading to
8.0 worked for most of the plugins

Trackstat and Custom Clock Helper.
i added
http://erland.github.io/squeezebox-downloads/repositories/latest.xml to
additional repositories, but only very few of Erlands plugins show up.
Can anybody help me, please?

Not sure if this is the right forum for this question... please redirect
me if not.

I'm going through a big review of my music collection to rate songs in
Trackstat. When the number of songs rated was around 2,000, rating a new
song took about 2-3 seconds. I've now got about 7,500 songs rated and
I'm sitting at around 1 minute to rate a single song. I observed the
time increase getting worse consistently as the number of rated songs
grew. LMS is running on a fairly beefy Synology DiskStation. I've tried
deleting and restoring Trackstat data and restarting LMS, but no
improvements. No performance issues otherwise, including SQL-based
dynamic playlists based on ratings.

Are there any suggestions for improving the performance?

Hi Erland/ Hi everybody,

thanks a lot for the great work in this forum to everybody... in this
subject especially to Erland.

I really like the ScreenSaver DaylightClock but since a couple of weeks
it does not work anymore (don't know exactly but maybe with the switch
to LMS 8). I just get the message: "Unable to fetch image from
http://static.die.net/moon/480.jpg. Calling the URL from the PC-Web
Browser everythings seems to be fine with the URL and the image.
Unfortunatley nothing in the log obout it. Can somebody help me with
which I'm doing wrong?

Thanks Erland.

I think it was mentioned earlier in this thread that your plugins should
be hosted on a server that requires no intervention on your part. Given
how much reliance I have on your plugins (take that as a complement),
it's got me thinking a bit differently on making sure I don't end up in
this situation again. I now realize you've got the source code hosted on
github, but I have no idea how I'd compile it or if compiling, etc. is
even required... not something I care to learn.

At the end of the day, my goal is to just listen to music -the way I
want to-! I'll be taking up PasTim's suggestion of downloading the
plugins I use and keeping them in a safe place. Any one of us can get
hit by a bus (or a virus) on any given day and need to have contingency
plans for the seemingly trivial (until they aren't) things in life.
Didn't think your plugins would end up in this category. ;)

As you have noted there seems to be some problem with my server, will
look at it tonight when I get home from work, it probably just needs to
be restarted or something similar. Unfortunately I can't fix it from
work but it should hopefully be up again within 12 hours or so.

The source code is on github and I have several backups of the zip's.

All the plugins should be are available from Erland's web page at

I have habitually taken copies of all the key plugins that I use, just
in case things go wrong.  As and when his website is up again I
recommend doing the same.  custom browse and custom scan are essential
to my use of LMS and I would not continue to use it if they did not

I have a horrible sinking feeling about restoring Erland's plugins. I've
read this entire thread cover to cover in search for an answer to not
being able to install Erland's plugins. The repository is down and I
hope this is a temporary issue.

I had the plugins working on LMS 8.0 and saw some issues with Trackstat
(for which I subsequently found a simple solution too late). I naively
downgraded to 7.9.1 and discovered the endless loop of not being able to
install Erland's plugins. I then downgraded even further all the way
back to 7.7.6 (I'm using Synology's non-beta version) and then
encountered the same issue, almost certainly because the repository is
down.

Is there a backup of the plugins anywhere? Does the server just need to
be restarted? I'd greatly appreciate anyone giving me access to their
own downloaded plugins. I tried the links to zip files already, but no
access.

I paid for a perpetual license and built my entire listening experience
around these great plugins. I fear that I may be dead in the water now
and may have to rethink the whole way I listen to music. Argh!

Wait. Custom Clock is an applet for Radio/Touch/Jive. Custom Clock
*Helper* is the server plugin. You might manually put the
CustomClockHelper folder in the server Plugins directory (and edit the
files if using LMS 8?), but CustomClock goes on the player.

Go to Settings/Advanced/Logging, check the box for "keep upon restart" 
(or similar) and set server.plugins to DEBUG. Then restart your LMS and 
check server.log for any trace of the above plugin. Once done disable 
the logging again

+ There seems to be some problem with Multi Library in combination with
LMS 8's OMLI: My "Pop" menu (only(!) that menu. The other two menus
don't show this behavior!) has some empty entries (Artist, Albums),
while other entries work fine (year). I think it was these tags, I'm not
100% sure. But it would always happen with OMLI -installed- (disabling
integration did not help, nor did restarting LMS or wiping the cache). I
didn't find the time to do any further testing, but I'm still willing to
do so.

+ Menus created with Custom Browse won't work in the WebUI (default skin
only, it does work with Material) if there's an umlaut in it:

That's not an LMS 8 specific problem, I'm not sure when it started, but
I think around 7.9.2. But that's why I think that it's more of and LMS
problem than a Custom Browse problem.

That would be very welcome.  More than almost anything else your plugins
(custom browse and scan) are one of the main reasons I stick with LMS. 
Nothing else I've found anywhere has the flexibility I need for
classical works.

I haven’t verified them with 8.0 yet so if you want to try them with 8.0
you need to download and install them manually right now. You will find

Based on reports from some users that have tried some of my plugins

My apologies if this has been asked and answered a million times

I'm still using LMS Version: 7.9.0 - 1479378558 (things have just
worked, and I haven't wanted to screw up a good thing).  I was having
some issues that caused me to deactivate and reactivate all my plug-ins,
and for some reason Title Switcher is the only one of my essential
plug-ins that won't load.  It appears we're up to version 1.3.23
now...I'm not sure if that was the last workable version for me or not.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of how I may resolve the
issue?  Many thanks...I'm pleased this forum is still active.  I still
can't believe after all these years LMS is still the best software for
listening to my music collection!



2-SB3s, 1-Touch, and a Raspberry Pi B+ with TekDevice dacBerry 3+
running piCorePlayer.  Mac Mini as a server (OS X Yosemite).  Direct
Ethernet connection (1-SB3 and the Raspberry Pi) and power-line (1-SB3
and Touch).  iPeng is my controller of choice.  LMS 7.8.1

first i want to say thank you Philippe for the great work of the
UPnP-DLNA bridge!

Now to my problem:

My Hardware / Software: QNAP SS-439 (Intel x86) with LMS (Version: 7.9.2
- 1539967036) and UPnP-DLNA bridge (Version: 1.6.3) and a BOSE
SoundTouch 20 (Firmware: 19.0.13)

I want to stream my music from my NAS (QNAP) to my BOSE SoundTouch 20
with the Logitech Media Server GUI.

At first it works! :-)

But my problem is that the BOSE SoundTouch 20 only plays one title of my
music list. If i click a title in the music list to play it works - but
if the title ends the next wont play till i stop and start or restart
the UPnP-DLNA bridge.

So please can you tell me what i am doing wrong!?

Could it help if I post the configuration file (upnpbridge.xml) here?

If anyone is interested, I have a now-playing clock for the Touch that
shows quite a bit more data, such as:

playlist number and no on playlist
track year
trackstat rating
track sample-rate/bit-size
track title
track artists(s)
composer
conductor
band
album artist
album name
album icon


This is mainly useful for classical music if you have populated some of
these fields.  Because there is quite a lot of it, some of it is quite
small, and it all has the option to scroll (I have tracks with 7 or 8
'track artists'), so it's only useful if you are fairly close to the
Touch.



LMS 7.9.2 on VortexBox Midi box, Xubuntu 18.04, FLACs 16->24 bit,
44.1->192kbps.  2 Touchs & EDO.
LMS plugin UPnP/DLNA Bridge to MF M1 CLiC (A308CR amp & ESLs) & Marantz
CR603 UPnP renderers.  
Also Minimserver & Upplay to same & to upmpdcli/mpd PC renderers.  
Squeezelite to Meridian USB Explorer DAC to PC speakers/headphones.  
Wireless Xubuntu 18.04 laptop firefox/upplay or Android 'phone with
Squeeze-Commander/BubbleUPnP controls LMS/Minimserver.

The applet runs on your squeeze device - mine is a Touch.  I use the
Touch menu to download the applet.

found it...i run the newest nightly and tried the stable version, add

I'm running LMS on max2play and would love to have the smae vu meter
like in the picoreplayer for the rapsberry pi with the original 7inch

I get the same error message about upgrading the tables, but it does not
cause any run-time problems.

Does it cause any error besides the log message ?
The tables are correctly created even if you get this error, it’s caused
by trying to make the plugin compatible with both SQLite and MySQL and
this file is only required for MySQL.

Confusing; it's not a "plugin" but an "applet".  You install it via the
Radio: Main Menu > Settings > Advanced > Applet Installer.  If like
mine, you should get a message there that an applet needs updating.

Happy New Year!

At midnight, my license for CustomClock on the Radio said it expired and
needed to be updated.  Unfortunately, I can't seem to get the new, free
version to appear in the PlugIn screen or be updated.  I see all of the
other Erland plugins, including the CustomClockHelper.  But no
CustomClock.

I'm running the latest version of the server:

I just tried installing another one of Erland's plugins.  On a roughly 2
month old version of LMS 7.9.1 it didn't install.  On last nights LMS
(7.9.1 - 1513400996 @ Sat Dec 16 06:26:04 UTC 2017) it installed OK.

I'm not sure why it doesn't work with LMS 7.9.1, it's a bit of work for
me to try to find the issue and unfortunately I can't prioritise doing
that right now since it works with 7.9.0 and earlier and I'm still on
7.8.0 myself.

- your server is not setting the keep-alive flag, but is expecting the 
client to wait for more data.



Let me know if Logitech(Michael) can't find a solution within the next
couple of months and I'll switch to host the binaries using a normal web
server instead of my custom download page.


Do yourself a favour and get rid of your own server code. File hosting 
shouldn't require custom code maintenance.



The binaries should be available on http://downloads.isaksson.info and
they are linked from http://erland.isaksson.info, there seems to be some
memory leak on my server that caused some issue but I've restarted it
now so now it should work again.


One more reason to get rid of it :-).

I haven't myself had to try to install from scratch on 7.9.1 so I won't
know if it's been fixed or not.  Maybe drop a line to mherger?

So they are!  What is strange is that the link on your homepage (from
your forum signature) doesn't seem to work.

I'm not sure why it doesn't work with LMS 7.9.1, it's a bit of work for
me to try to find the issue and unfortunately I can't prioritise doing
that right now since it works with 7.9.0 and earlier and I'm still on
7.8.0 myself.
Let me know if Logitech(Michael) can't find a solution within the next
couple of months and I'll switch to host the binaries using a normal web
server instead of my custom download page.

The binaries should be available on http://downloads.isaksson.info and
they are linked from http://erland.isaksson.info, there seems to be some
memory leak on my server that caused some issue but I've restarted it
now so now it should work again.

reverting to 7.9.0 does the trick.  I'm not sure what the result of
mherger and erland's investigations was.

Suffice to say I'm quite nervous about this.  Some time ago I downloaded
all the plugins I need from erland's website
(http://erland.isaksson.info/), so could try to do manual installations
if I really have to.  However, that website does not seem to include the
sequeezebox downloads any more.  I have, instead, manually downloaded
from him using the individual zips from
https://erland.github.io/squeezebox-downloads/repositories/latest.xml

That information did the trick! I changed the selection in 'Settings
-Interface - Title Format' and that indeed changed the information given

It's not setting keep-alive. I was wondering whether sending the file as 
an attachment was causing the problem somehow.

Spicefly SugarCube would be unable to verify its license if my license
server stops working. License is checked if old license expires or if a
new version of either License Manager plugin or Spicefly SugarCube
plugin is installed. So if you have a life time license and have a
backup of both plugins and their prefs files there won’t be any
dependency to my server since the license would not have to be verified
again. I don’t have any plans to shutdown my license server. If you want
Spicefly SugarCube to be independent of my server you will have to
discuss this with the developer of Spicefly SugarCube.

Not sure what’s set automatically but it neither seems to set keep-alive
nor Content-Length explicitly.
If I need to do something on my end it’s going to take some time, not
sure I still have a working build environment for this old code.

Michael, I think your change will work, but I purposely used the fact
that "undef" numerically compared to 0 to close the connection in case
of a faulty server that accepts a keep-alive request but does not put a
content-length in its response (in such case, client does not know when

I, too, was unable to get Custom Browse (or some other, but not all,
Erland plugins) to load with version 7.9.1.x. I experienced the exact
same behavior as posted in this thread and I emailed Erland about it a
week ago. I also use Max2Play as the admin UI for my Raspberry Pi 2,
which is designed, in case it's unknown, as a media platform that
includes both LMS and SqueezeLite to create a contained media player
running on the Raspberry Pi hardware. I personally have a Radio in my
bedroom and a Classic in my livingroom connected via TOSLink cable to my
AV receiver (I still *NEED* LOL my Maggies for my classical, jazz, and
opera) as well as a HiFiBerry TOSlink capable RPi2 add-on board (which
works quite well).

I confirm Nojelc's reported behavior that down-grading Logitech Media
Server Version: 7.9.1 - 1510044676 @ Tue Nov 7 15:33:55 UTC 2017 to
Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.0 - 1488878280 @ Wed Mar 8 14:18:44
UTC 2017 allows Custom Browse installation. So, something Michael
changed in the SqueezeServer builds from last March has broken the
ability to install Custom Browse. As I cannot live (Yes, cannot live :-)
without Custom Browse and its "Genre Album" I will remain on v7.9.0
build 1488878280.

I'm hoping that Erland and Michael have an opportunity to review what it
may be that has compromised the install of Custom Browse. Or, perhaps I
dare say, that the functionality of Custom Browse (or at the very least,
from my perspective, the Genre Albums part) becomes a part of the
standard SqueezeServer architecture. Frankly, I've never understood why
the regular Genre Library view defaults to listing by Artist/Performer
rather than Album. For folks with substantial classical libraries that
really makes no sense as it often splits albums over multiple listings. 
And the Album view lists all albums in alphabetical order, and when one
has nearly 3000 albums in some 30 genres, that, well, is useless as a
method to find something. Custom Browse and its Genre Albums is
*perfect*.

And let me add my thanks to Erland for his LMS plugins. As other folks
have said in this thread, I quickly opted to pay for the lifetime
license in recognition of Erland's contribution the LMS community with
his plugins. I'd do the same for Michael were it possible (sad that so
many people do not understand that Michael is the SOLE developer of
SqueezeServer -- take a look at the commit history and you can confirm
this is true).

The only reason to add this repository is if you want to get access to
latest plugin versions immediately.
This repository is included in LMS standard repository files, so if you
accept to wait a few hours or a day until these have been updated you
will get access to the latest plugin versions even if you haven't added
my repository manually.

does implement Custom Browse OK.

So yes indeed. There we have it. I would say that has the problem
isolated. But what can we do about it? Is there any way of manually
loading these plugins? Well yes obviously - but any way for average the
techno-duffer like me to do it?

Have you tried including more logging?  I'm not much good at that
myself, but it might give a clue as to what is going wrong.

Looking at the list of options (Settings, Advanced, Logging),
network.repositories, plugin.extensions, server.plugins and so on may
give some useful information.  I'm sure others on this forum will know
much more than I which are the right ones to pick.  You will probably
need to tick the box near the top to preserve the settings over a
restart (many is the time I've forgotten to do that and wondered where
the logs have gone),

As a matter of interest how long do you wait before restarting LMS?  I
vaguely recall people talking about the process needing a bit of time
before the restart (this may, of course, be a false memory - I have
quite a few of those...).

You could also try adding this repo to the list at the bottom of the
plugin page.  I have it in my list - I don't remember why.

I was having the same problem. I needed to re-install SB and downloaded
version 7.7 from logitech's site and then immediately upgraded to 7.9
When I tried install any of erlands plug-ins it would not install
(similar response as other people have described). Installing other
plug-ins worked fine. Then I decided to start from scratch (again) but

Well I know almost nothing about max2play and Docker either :)

If LMS in the Docker is linux-based, then there should a directory
called /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache.In there when LMS is stopped
there should a file called cache.db, and a directory called
DownloadedPlugins.  Delete them if you can.  This may require that you
use sudo (i.e. "sudo rm cache.db" and "sudo rmdir DownloadedPlugins"). 
Hopefully that will just ask you for your normal linux password and it
will work.  If this doesn't work you may need to brush up on some linux
skills, or maybe someone here will have more ideas. If your LMS is
windows-based the two files will be the same, but the directory
structure and permissions may well be different and it's too many years
since I last mucked around with (and was mucked around by) Windows.

You might try stopping LMS, clearing the cache.db files, and also any
files in DownloadedPlugins.

I am setting up a new version of LMS on Max2Play. I have had Custom

You might try waiting a few minutes before clicking on "Click here to
restart the server" dialog - it may not have completed downloading the
updated plugin file before you restart.  If that still doesn't work, you
can turn-on additional logging within LMS to try to see what's going
wrong.

Just to inform that I don't have performance problems anymore. I didn't
change anything, I just disabled the trackstat history logging in
plugins parameters. I don't know if it changed anything, because it
didn't make any difference at the moment.

server" dialog. However, when I click "Restart now", the page reloads

continually shows the item in "Updated plugins available".

Am able to install all other plugins without problem.

I can download the .zip archive of the plugin from URL in the
repositories/latest.xml file. But I don't know where to put it in the
Docker. Can I unpack it into "cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/" folder?

By the way Erland, I know it not the right moment but my LMS is running
on a RPI 3 and I have performance issues with trackstat. When I change a
rating, it takes a long time (more than 10s) to be performed and I
cannot do anything during that time. I have 17k tracks in my library
wich is on a usb drive connected to the RPI and the RPI is only used as
a LMS server. Do you have some advice to speed up this ?
