Some things that could be better with the CSFlipView server:
1) Optionally be able to restrict the stuff that is flipped to just the PCB
client window. Messy to program as I would need to track when the PCB
window is no longer active
2) Fix the occasional bug where having the flip window open p

Hello Mark,
I understand your problem. You can assign a width to a net with the 'Design
Rules'.
To be able to pick out a particular connection within the same net to assign
a different width (eg a 'sense' connection in a Power Supply you can use the
'from-to' editor.
Here, you can create a parti
Thanks for the Email Ian.
I had an access violation when trying to install the server (emailed you the
details), however all seems to be well.
I do get video memory *noise* when the cursor is taken outside the desktop.
This is not a problem for normal operation however. Thanks for a useful
tool.

As someone else has reported that it works for them, I suspect it's because
our firewall is tighter than a fishes bum.
Would you mind putting it in the Protel Users Yah
Do you really need microstrip corners when protel can lay curved (fixed
width) tracks?
Don't want to teach you to suck eggs, but in case you don't know:
Try hitting [Shift]+[Space] a few times when laying tracks to alter the
placement mode.

Thomas,
Un-zip the files and place the .hlp file into the
help subdirectory 'c:\Protel99\Help' on my setup then
place the other to files into .ins and .dll into the
system subdirectory 'c:\Protel99\System'.
Now open Protel click on the server arrow, grey arrow

Just go to the supermarket and buy some ground black pepper. It's cheaper!
But it's resistance probably changes with humidity ;-)

Or you could try the real reasons
if 1206, 0805 & 0603 resistors all cost the same price
to buy.. and 1206 is 4 times the size of a 0603.. then
you can make 4 times the profit by carving up one
ceramic tile into 0603's instead of 1206's.. this is a
profit driven world after all

Here is my take:
1206 parts are becoming harder to find and more expensive that 0805's due to
(in my understanding) the amount of expensive and rare materials used to
form the end contacts. The amounts in an 0805 are a fraction of what is
used in a 1206.
I am looking to the future when 0805's m
Where resistor footprints are concerned, you use not only what you can find
but what will work for your application, Sometimes they are 0603, most times
they are 0805, again, what is your application.

More values are easier & cheaper in 0805. For example, check out 20 MOhm, very
difficult to find in 0603 & if you do find it, the price is ridiculous. For 1M and
less, I use 0603, for anything above 1M, I still use 0805.

Weird values are slightly more available in 0805 than 0603 at the
moment. (where weird is E24 and above). I suspect the answer is, whatever

Norb,
By the way, when I suggested 0805 footprints, I was not taking in to
consideration voltage or power requirements. Be sure that ANY component
and footprint is acceptable for the voltage and power before designing
it in to your PCB.

Hello,
The most common for me right now is 0805, but that will be quickly
changing to 0603 as our products demand smaller boards.

Hi Norb,
0805 is still (marginally) the most common and least expensive, with
0603 a close second. However, it's also much easier to hand-solder and
rework 0805-sized parts when compared to 0603 or smaller components.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,

How do you install the server? I have downloaded the file and it's not very

Hello all,
I have been "lurking" for about a month, and I have gained a lot of

Hi Ian,
The server works a treat. My setup is:
Win 2K, GeforceII 32M, 1600 x 1200 res, 512M.
This will be very useful, even if that is all it ever does.
Thanks,

G'Day all,
