Hi Gordon,
I am using SPECCTRA together with Protel for some years now. I support most
of Mike Reagans arguments and observations. I tried to route complex
designs with Protels router, and it did not even start, but produced
nothing but error messages. Even single nets were not touched by the

Hello,
I have a design that is completed, all routed, and the engineer has
decided he wants test points on every net on the bottom side. Is there
an easy way of doing this besides by hand from net to net?
Thanks,
Brad Marshall

Hi Yuri
you can define a pad either plated or non plated in advanced options. Then
in the drill file you have a separate tool for a non plated tool.

I think there is no possibility in protel to do it.
In the .txt file is the information of all the holes
position and tool number.
The .drr file containes the tool information.
Tool number := diameter := plated or not.
In the *.drr file, you see, which is plated and which is not.
Since the *.txt
I haven't looked in a drill file in a while, but I do not know if one can
import it into excel and sort it (by field)?... Or I could write a quickie
perl script to do it...

Mike,
Thanks for the answer. This is also to Ivan who asked me a question
about how large my design is. The answer to that question is that it is a
small physical design but TOO DENSE FOR PROTEL'S ROUTER.(1000 traces, 1500
vias) It is a PCI card with a couple of DSP's and 12 layers and a l
