QGIS3 writes a new configuration into a .qgis3 folder in your user profile /
home directory so all your old settings are in the old .qgis2 folder. You
might be able to copy contents from one to the other but I'm not sure of the
consequences. Proceed with caution :-)

Anyone know how to update a field that has a global variable set as the default

We have a QGIS project with a PostGIS layer loaded and configured with look-ups
and relations so the users can update all the relevant fields.
I can confirm this using Windows 7 x64 and 2.18.8
Bug reported - https://issues.qgis.org/issues/16612 - and closed already as
new fix is in place and will be coming in new build 2.18.9 shortly. Suggestion
is to downgrade to 2.18.7 or use the Add PostGIS Layer button.

Every time I open QGIS Essen I get an error message telling me that the Plugin
processing will be disabled because it crashed QGIS during the last startup.
Please report an issue and re-enable the plugin when the problem has been

If you open the raster layer properties you can change the resampling method on
the Style tab from nearest neighbour / nearest neighbour to bilinear / average.
That should smooth out the image for you.
