[QUAD-L] Fwd: IRS Rebate check
Note: forwarded message attached.---BeginMessage--- How ture this is! How to use Your IRS Rebate check... As you may have heard, each of us will be getting a tax rebate check to stimulate the economy. If we spend that money at Wal-Mart, all the money will go to China. If we spend it on gasoline it will go to the Arabs. If we purchase a computer it will go to India. If we purchase fruits and vegetables it will go to Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala. If we purchase a good car it will go to Japan. If we purchase useless stuff it will go to Taiwan and none of it will help the American economy. We need to keep that money here in America. A sleeping/resting bed can be like a pair of shoes. Fit is more important than fad. Some can use a standard bed with special mattress modifications and padding. Others require a hospital like bed with raising back and foot rest. Some require a turning or shifting type of bed that reduces pressure. Then there are the more complicated beds that offer more features and comfort. More important is learning what you need. Know what your body requires for survival. A complicated bed may require a doctor's script and an occupational therapist evaluation. The last element is affordability and what you can afford to meet those needs. My bed is a Turn Q. The hospital gave it to me but never took it back. I don't think you would want to pay for one. Before that I had a regular mattress on a cheep hospital bed fame. On that I laid on a mattress which although about 1' thick would redistribute the pressure points. I could lie on it for weeks without a spot showing up. For about $100. this air mattress is a great find. I forgot its name but do a Google on it with Florida, mattress pressure . . RE: [QUAD-L] tat- the price we pay for freedom...
You're not alone. The nonpartisan Citizen’s Alliance for Secure Elections (CASE) is investigating various other voting irregularities in Ohio, among them: * In Auglaize County, a letter dated October 21 under the signature of Ken Nuss, the county’s former deputy director, alleges that Joe McGinnis, a former employee of Election Systems Software (ESS), violated election protocol with his unauthorized use of the county’s central tabulating computer that creates ballots and compiles election results. Nuss, who resigned on October 21, alleges that McGinnis was improperly granted access to the computer the weekend of October 16. * In Miami County, with 100% of the precincts reporting at 9am EST Wednesday, Nov. 3, Bush had 20,807 votes (65.80%) and Kerry had 10,724 (33.92%). Miami reported 31,620 voters. Inexplicably, nearly 19,000 new ballots were added after all precincts reported, boosting Bush’s vote to 33,039 (65.77%) to Kerry’s 17,039 (33.92%). CASE is investigating why the percentage of the vote stayed exactly the same to three one-hundredths of a percentage point after nearly 19,000 new ballots were added. CASE members speculate that it’s either a long-shot coincidence with the last three digits remaining the same, or that someone had pre-set a database and programmed a voting machine to cough up a pre-set percentage of votes. Miami County uses an easily hackable optical scanner with the central counter provided by the Republican-linked vendor ESS. * In Warren County, administrators and election officials locked down the county administrative building and prohibited all independent election observers from watching the vote count. County officials cited “homeland security,” according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. WCPO-TV Channel 9 News Director Bob Morford told the Enquirer that he had “never seen anything like it.” Morford asserted that throwing the media and independent observers out of the centralized counting area under the guise of “homeland security” was a “red herring.” He said, “That’s something to put up when you don’t know what else to put up to keep us out.” In Warren County, Bush picked up an additional 12,000 votes over his 2000 election total. * In Franklin County, where Franklin County Board of Elections Director Matt Damschroder is also the former Executive Director of the county’s Republican Party, the county Board of Elections building looked like a bunker. Scores of city buses blocked parking spaces on the street outside, numerous concrete barricades surrounded the parking lot, and a metal detector was stationed at the only entrance. A phalanx of armed deputy sheriffs swarmed the only site where provisional voters could cast a guaranteed ballot. The Columbus Dispatch confirmed an Election Day Free Press story that far fewer voting machines were present in predominantly black Democratic inner-city voting wards than in the recent primary election and the 2000 presidential election, with their lighter turnouts. The reduced number of machines caused voters to wait up to seven hours and wait an average of approximately three hours. One Republican Central Committee member told the Free Press that Damschroder held back as many as 200 machines and dispersed many of the other machines to affluent suburbs in Franklin County. Florida will not have those unsecured computers with no paper trail any longer. My understanding is there supposed be replaced before the upcoming general election with optical scanning machines. Tammy Lou, Although the type of bed used is very important, the type of linen can be just as important. When I was in the hospital, their sheets was so rough that it was difficult for me to lay on them. I had to be turned more than usual. I find that using sheets with a high thread count can be very comforting. The higher the thread count, the more costly the sheets are. I try to get a thread count of 500 to 800. Eight hundred thread count sheets are very expensive, but they are smooth as butter. Although my mattress is just a vinyl covered mattress, nothing special, the sheets I put on it, makes a world of difference. Just keep this in mind when thinking about the comfort of your bed. This looks like the one I have used for ten years for $115.00. The one is further down the link you gave named something like The 800. I had been on it for two weeks without turning. Works by alternating pressure areas. I no longer have a need for it except in the hospital. I could never turn. Lucky to never break down except on the gurney. [QUAD-L] Bed
Thank you Naomi for your response. Have you ever been doing something for a very long time and then realize how stupid it just might be? I do make sure that I have the highest thread count sheets possible but I always use a square bed pad under my butt because it's easier to be moved from side to side and to be pulled up. Now that you brought it to my attention it does seem pretty silly to use the bed pad. Do you guys use a bed pad and if not how do you get your caregivers to pull you from one side to the other when they turn you? Take care and play nice Tammie Lou C6 complete quadriplegic 13 years post chippertue.com _Chippertue's World_ (http://www.chippertue.com/) There is a difference between sympathy and empathy, sympathy is feeling for an empathy is feeling with. **Need a new ride? Tammie Lou, I just use a folded flat sheet, same thread count as the fitted sheet. Naomi C4-incomplete, quadriplegic since July 2005 due to Transverse Myelitis **Need a new ride? Check out the largest site for U.S. used car listings at AOL Autos. (http://autos.aol.com/used?NCID=aolcmp0030002851)

I KNOW I'M A LITTLE LATE RESPONDING BUT I WOULD GET IT CHECKED - I HAD NO SYMPTOMS IN MY LEG - IT WAS NORMAL AS EVER. Hitherto ... I was not familiar with clots of any type so I was in the dark. It was the Internet that saved my life essentially. With what I described... they should have wanted to at the very least eliminate the possibility of a clot since I just had two surgeries with that doctor and that is a primary thing to worry about after surgery. But noo... I thought it was probably just swelling and I should wear some of those tight hose. QUACK, QUACK I went around for about a month with my left lower leg very swollen and very hard. I finally read an article on the net (I was very new to the Internet back then and only knew how to look things up) and one doctor in Washington state had an article about spinal cord injuries and folks with MS. A sentence said If one leg is significantly larger than the other... it could indicate a clot. All I knew was that a clot was not good but I had no idea that I had a DVT whereby all I had to do was move a certain way to have it move directly to my lungs to kill me. The very next morning I called my primary care physician and I went to see him. He looked at it and said I don't know... I don't think it could be a clot but I will send you over to the hospital to have an ultrasound done. Needless to say... I never left the hospital because it was a lengthy clot and I was in immediate danger. DOCTORS! QUACK, QUACK! I think I'm on my 95th life because of so many negligent doctors. Re: [QUAD-L] Bed...
I have a generic hospital bed as well. I have an alternating pressure pad on my bed. I expect the medical equipment place to come get the pump at any time since medicare wont pay for it unless you have breakdown and mine was closed up a year ago. I have seen them online for between 25 to as much as 50 bucks. I had my own that medicaid paid for before that but it broke. Anyhow I haven't gotten a sore from the bed but from the cushion on my chair so the pump worked good. I even have slept on the same side for as much as a week straight. I have a hospital sheet on my bed that ended up at home with me from the ride home. I use liquid fabric softner on it. I usually wash the sheet and put it back on the bed because I really hate folding sheets. I alternate sheets if I know I wont get back to making the bed. Well the point is, fabric softner makes a world of difference. I also like to hit the resale shops for almost new stuff. It can both interesting and very challenging. Hospital sheet are washed at both high temperatures and with plenty of chemicals too. No wonder they are so rough N tough. Best Wishes In a message dated 4/24/2008 5:02:58 P.M. Re: [QUAD-L] Bed
I use a bed pad just in case my catheter doesn't drain right. Easier to take that off of the bed then change everything. I use a blue pad as well because I sleep all night and one doesn't seem to be enough if my catheter gets pinched or doesn't drain right. Re: [QUAD-L] tat
Have you watched the news? It is. Sams, Cosco, etc are limiting how much rice you can buy b/c of food shortages resulting from rising food costs. Ethanol is making corn, flour, wheat, rice, etc more expensive and then it transfers over to dairy and meats because those animals eat feed. Can you imagine when more people are driving cars fueled by ethanol where we will be with groceries.
