I’m running 1 x 10 friction on my Clem H with a clutch derailleur and wolftooth chainring (38t) and feel like it’s the quietest, smoothest shifting I’ve ever had. I paid close attention to centering the chain line, and had to experiment w a couple BB’s before finding it. Maybe that effort is

I did one, on a hardtail mtn bike which is now my commuter. As Joe says, the only special tools were to tighten those big locking nuts at the BB. I thought mine were tight enough first try, but the motor came loose and rotated down in under a thousand miles. I don't think you can overtighten.
