As Garth said, nitto S-84 seatpost is the way to go, shimmed. Not only does it
have mega setback, but it'll add a lug to your lug hungry Clem. My Clem loves
it's classy 84, and it's feathery steel! Might be cheap from Alex Cycles, but
better bought from your guy in Walnut Creek.
+1 on the VO for lots of setback. It's pricey, but oh so shiny.

Silver Shifters were supposedly being phased out, because supposedly Dia
Compe told Riv that the mold was shot. Riv had a Silver 2 design going,
but then that mysteriously hit a hiccup of some kind. Now, lo and behold,
Riv is up to their eyeballs in original Silver Shifters. Vendor-drama and
Chauncey builds great bikes, but he doesn't build bikes that handle like
Rivendells, and I'm not sure another builder to do so would be that easy to
find, and certainly not at Chauncey's prices.

Have you considered getting a 29.8 -> 27.2 seat post shim? Problem Solvers
and Cane Creek both have that size, and there's a large selection of set
back seat posts with a 27.2 diameter. I use a Cane Creek shim on a 31.6 ->
27.2 conversion, and have had no issues with slippage even at my svelte

use a Brooks saddle too. The Anatomicas do have longer rails but the

discovered v-brakes, I wondered why I had bothered with discs. For true MTBs, I
think discs are an advantage in mud, and I prefer XT-level hydraulics, which
