Eric,
Thank you for the help! Yes, it appears I was reading the pin out backwards
based on a document, that was noted incorrectly!
Also, will order the service manual, was not aware of Pacparts!
Thanks again!

I actually have the same radio, less the mic...
With this pinout, I guess I'll go ahead and use a Maxtrac mic to retro it on
there :)
Thanks!

I inserted a small 20 watt PA after the TX port on our Hamtronics
REP-200 UHF machine.
Repeater puts out 7 watts into my Termaline after all the filtering etc.
With the amp, output is 15 watts, 3DB gain, however the signal on the
air seems weaker.
Its not a desense issue - I can still

Who makes the PA? 20 watts... It probably has a nominal drive
value of less than 7 watts for sure... The original bare

I sounds like your amplifier may be spurious. Your watt meter may be
reading 15 watts, but not all the power being read is on the output
frequency. Watt meters are broad banded, you need to look at the output
of the amplifier on a spectrum analyzer.

Money is not an issue really.

You are correct about the LPA. I was looking at the schematic for
that - figured I could maybe swap out the transistor for an MRF (or
similar) that might do 2 in, 25 out and avoid the

I am appealing to the gurus here for assistance as I have just inherited

the feasibility/cost of upgrading this system. Can someone tell me
I would recommend the SCOM 7330 controller. It is a three port controller
and is very nicely laid out card. You can hook up a IRLP as well a weather
station to it and all that.

I have a UHF RCA 500 series commercial repeater that was retuned and crystalled
for amateur 440 use. It was used as our first 440 repeater and to my knowledge
still works, but it has been off the air in storage for about 2 years.
It has a transmit exciter, PA, and receiver. Photos are online
Does anyone have a spare Motorola IC, either a MC1466L or a MC1566L, for an old

Eric--
The reason that the duplexer you received in your station had an isolation of
100 dB was that the tuning was done using a network analyzer by a qualified
technician. That is typical for these duplexers using a network analyzer.
I seriously doubt that anywhere near those numbers are
