I too agree that if you are designing antenna's the MFJ is a low cost solution
for looking at an antenna's impedance and reactance for a little money. Yes, I
know that the 269 is several hundred dollars, but the next set up is a
Sitemaster, which is several thousand used.
Once it's on the ai
ilable. I would suggest an after market one.
That is what I know so far...

I guess it's a different world out here in the wild wild west. Very few
machines run more than 30 watts. Of course with our 10,000+ foot granite
towers we don't need any more. Some machines have 100+ mile (radius)
coverage.

The danger I see with this is when your antenna goes bad (and they all do
eventually), your receiver will be hit with the full reflected power of the
PA almost certainly turning it into a smoldering doorstop.

land-line for control, though it is not required. Many times, a land-line
is not available or is prohibitively expensive. I know of repeater sites in
use that are many miles from the nearest available land-line. In these
cases, RF remote and automatic control is all you can do.
Good idea. I've got to get the radio in hand, and measure things and see
how it all lays out.

Remember that this is only required if you do not use automatic control.
This is why most repeater owners implement automatic control, and then use
telecommand as a backup.

This would amount to relinquishing control of the station to an unlicensed

Maybe I'm missing something then. All I'm adjusting is the rod and turning

There is a small hex cap on top of the coupling, that I didn't touch.
The manufacturers tuning instructions for this model say to adjust an
