I’d crowdfund it. Though if they’ve also grabbed the Jupiter Ace, one imagines
that any plans, however hypothetical, would be for some sort of omnibus
machine. I don’t see the one with no games and a stack-based programming
language selling like hot cakes.

Paul Andrews (Andrews UK) is part of the team behind the original

Hello,

No SAM activity here at the moment...

My last project (2011 and 2014) for SAM Coupé was an improved remake of
Barry Jones' _Jolly Roger_ (1984), written in Sinclar BASIC for ZX
Spectrum, an old but nice simulation/strategy/adventure game with some
touches of arcade, which I liked. The port to MasterBASIC worked fine
and looked promising
(http://programandala.net/es.programa.bandera_negra.mbim.html). I used
my MBim preprocessor for MasterBASIC
(http://programandala.net/en.program.mbim.html), which makes things much
easier and lets a cross-development of sorts. But the bugs in SAM
BASIC's `KEYIN` ruined MBimport
(http://programandala.net/en.program.mbimport.html) the final step of
the toolchain, i.e. importing the final source into SimCoupe.

In 2015 I rewrote the program in Forth with my Solo Forth for ZX
Spectrum 128 (http://programandala.net/en.program.solo_forth.html).
It's called _Black Flag_ and progresses very well
(http://programandala.net/en.program.black_flag.html).

By the way, Solo Forth runs on several ZX Spectrum models and clones
with G+DOS, +3DOS and TR-DOS, and I've considered supporting also the
SAM Coupé with MasterDOS in a future version... but I think ZX Spectrum
Next (http://specnext.com) will be the _next_ target...

Great - thank you! Totally forgot I bought another Scart from Quazor but

Welcome Simon.

There are probably others who can give you concrete repair advice.
However, I just want to check with you that you are aware that the SAM
has a non-standard SCART connector? See:
http://www.worldofsam.org/node/350. I believe the symptoms you

RF part in the power supply for SCART. I'm sure others will chime in

spam is asking for something as well as sending invites from social
 networks is it?

Not if this will happen ONCE (one time, without repeats).

Spaming is hammering thousands of times to multiple people (I got three
invitations for Facebook). Spaming is finding hundreds mails from same
sender when returning from holidays, asking the same question in different
styles, and using teh instead if the, which is not the only reason why
it is very hard to read. Spaming makes people dull and stop them from
working on their projects due to time needed to read the spam/hammering and
find out, what the sender exactly wants, or due to get bored after hammering
about a small bug or asking for same feature over and over and over and
over...
Spaming is asking people to write software, they did not want to write. It
would be okay asking this once, but not for every piece of software he want.

You keep spamming on about a PUSH proportional print routine - why don't you
write your own? It really isn't that difficult you know. And why have you got
it in
your head that PUSH is the way to go with this???

Sure, PUSH can dramatically speed up certain graphic-dumping operations - but
don't assume that it is a panacea for *everything*! There is a trade-off
between
the ease of something like LDI and the complications of manipulating the stack
to
do any PUSH operations - not to mention the potential interrupt headaches when
playing with the stack pointer.

Work out exactly what you want from your routine, then write code to fit the
bill...

Don't just look for a proportional print routine - or assume someone else will
write
or give you one - be it stack-based or not! *Write Your Own!*

Who knows, you might learn something and - more importantly - you won't keep
annoying everyone by constantly spamming *everywhere* asking for one...

Sorry if this seems obvious, but without knowing more I'm just guessing

Hi,

Thanks, I've found the problem now. What I'd forgotten was that you
get two FPC stack entries for each parameter - the first describes the
type (which allows for CALL statements with string arguments) and this
is what was coming out as 0xc0 every time.

But the whole point of a list like this is that people don't have to be
online in order for a conversation to take place. If people want to arrange
between themselves to chat at a certain time about a certain topic that's up
to them but moving the list wholesale to MSN is IMO a Bad Idea.

Don't get me wrong, I like Linux. I like Red Hat Linux. But let us
imagine a hypothetical situation for a moment:

Let us imagine that we are business men, and not geeks. Now, our

shoot-'em-up which breaks all the boundaries in gameplay and
technical acheivement...

If you say that you'll make as MUCH money, or even CLOSE from the

With business software, you might make more, but PARTICULARLY with

Think you might have problems programming in it - but the games
seem to run. The actual designer - where you do all the graphics

Has anyone mentioned EFTPOTRM yet? It may have looked good but the game had no
playability. Also Sam Elite was a rip off. Mind you I'm not totally aware of all
Sam games. I never ever saw Lemmings running on the Sam.

I think best game in my opinion has to be Prince of Persia although graphically
it wasn't that great. Defenders of the Earth or Sphera were much prettier.

I'd still love to see a proper Coupe enhanced version of Elite.

Yay true. Netscape's gone mad. It gets exception errors every time
I try and Sync newsgroups then forgets how many emails are in

Well, I've tried, and failed :(. I ran it through my own little dsk
program which handles dodgy sectors (I'll get around to uploading it one
day), but despite the fact that the sectors that are dodgy are all at
the end (only 16 in total!) the disk is naffed.

It will get a directory ok and some things load, but apart from that its
dodgy - end of file problems somtimes just hanging the compiler.

If I get my Sam out off its shelf in the near future I'll try and make a
copy of the disk on that then run it through the DSK thing (the same
always seems a bit more resilient to [ignorant of?] dodgy disks that
PC's for some reason).

The problem with the backup is that the protection will most definately
be uncatered for. Hmm.

I tried some of my old games too (the ones I wrote with SCADS), but
alas, all the disks seem to have been got by the MagnetoMonster... ohh
well :os

Yay true. Netscape's gone mad. It gets exception errors every time
I try and Sync newsgroups then forgets how many emails are in
folders. Then, to top it off, when I try and send a bunch of emails I
acts like its sending but then doesn't remove them from the outbox. So
I think umm mustn't have gone, so I resend (same happens), so I resend
 individually and it works :)

SNAP! I had exactly the same problem back along, this must be quite a common
problem with Netscape.

Sorry if you thought you were going weird,

 Martin Fitz

 distributed in caporial form aswell.

 Mail me if you're intersted.

Anybody played vegetable vacation recently? ha ha ha

Yesterday actually. Still don't like it, but I found the disk (for
which I
paid 50p to retrieve from a local shop's bin of cheap disks) suddenly and
thought I might see if it still works. Alas it does.

Is it really a terrible game, or do you suddenly understand it if you
buy
with instructions?

No, I'm pretty sure it really was a terrible game.

But I don't think it was Sam's worst ever game for my money, that
honor goes to... fx type=drumrollfx type=rips open envelope

Parallax.

/fx Controversial?

Parallax.

I'd have given it to the game's predecessor, whose name escapes me
at the moment. Now THAT was a shit game.

Nope. I was give to understanding that Parallax was the sequel to that
vertically scrolling abomination with mode 2 levels and mode 4 bosses,
wunnit?
