Can anyone give some advice on foam flying wings?
I am learning to fly with a DAW S1-26 (2m.) but I have trouble every
time I try to fly in moderate winds. Is there a wing that is
beginner-proof, easy to fly and penetrates better than my sloper?.
Should I get a foam 60" racer (Enigma or similar)
I had my 1st experience of dealing with Sal years ago when I wanted to buy a
certain model. He belittled my choice and suggested another model. I didn't
buy it. A year later I tried to buy another model, only to be told that it
wasn't very good and received ANOTHER suggestion to buy something
Does anyone know if there is a correlation between the ratio of hardener
to epoxy resins to there strength. I ask this because I notice that the
ratio of high performance
epoxies used in full scale composite construction generally runs at four or
five--never (have I seen) ratios of one,
If the performance is better on a sanded wet wing, my theory has been that
laminar flow might happen more easily over a sheet of water that is flexable
and easily conforming to the air flowing over it. Did you ever notice what
happens to a convertable top on a car when at cruise speed. I'm
Perhaps I can make this simple for you. I fly everything I sell and am involved in
most of the design process in again, most of our
flying products. I do get hundreds of phone calls every week and try to answer each
and every question. Sometimes I try to cut to
the chase and describe the proper

With all the bashing of Sal I had to step in. And no not to defend him :).
I think sometimes we in soaring forget what great service we do get from some
of the companies we deal with. I think Sal gives service that is "average"
or slightly below for the (radio control) industry at large. I

I just wanted to mention that my list of great guys in soaring was not meant
to be exclusive. I will even mention I left out Ray Hayes, he certainly
deserves a spot up there with Karlton. My point is we need to appreciate
great service when we get it, or it will go away.

Jeff,
This 'stuff' is made in 'biscuits' that start out as big as 50" x 50" x 192"
(some are maybe much bigger) and is then cut to the sheets you purchase.
When you're down to measuring grams, it's surprising that the density is as
uniform as it is.
If you cut cores from the pieces you weighed
Let me say that the service I get from Sal has always been good. When I was
a beginner he helped me choose correctly and when he is busy he always
suggests a call back, when I do get his attention. The are only a handful of
people out there who are qualified to give the kind of advice Sal can and
Oh Now I understand- I have to "court" the vendor before I order , or I mean
before I am priviledged enough to have them service me. Well now I know that
all I have to do is send some flowers before my order is called in and all
will be OK. ;-)

Democracy is dependent on a free press. There are plenty a places in this
world that give lip service to the concept - but they do not practice it (to
the determent of there citizens). I subscribe to this list to hear the good
and the bad. Once you have muzzled the members of this list, it

The post curing recommended for MGS 285 Epoxy is 18 hours at 50 to 60 C (120
to 140 F). I use a small space heater with a fan in a large card board box
with a digital thermometer to monitor the temperature. The trunk of your
car will easily get warmer than that on a hot day. Pro-Set gives data

So, it seems at least one individual can appreciate my twisted sense of humor.
Thanks Scott. This whole Sal bashing thing is just
one aspect of what I was trying to convey to the exchange via the light bulb post. It
is useless and counter-productive as about
75% of all posts are. Thank God
